The archives’ doors loomed ahead, massive, engraved with symbols older than any I had seen outside the ruins. Fenrir pressed his hand against them, murmuring a word in Elvish. The runes glowed, faintly recognizing him as their prince, before sliding open with a sound like wind over glass.
Inside, the halls were lined with floating books, scrolls suspended in shimmering air, pages turning of their own accord. Knowledge here didn’t sleep. And yet, as we stepped in, I felt something heavier: eyes watching us from the shadows.
