Ember. The world outside the capital was already unraveling. Wolves that had bent their knees to the crown now prowled in open rebellion. The relic’s awakening had split the realm in half—those who feared the witch and those who feared the king more. By the time I reached the northern woods, the night was thick with smoke. My scouts met me at the edge of a ruined camp—faces I hadn’t seen in months, old soldiers who’d once followed me before Magnus’s politics drove them underground. They didn’t ask questions. Merlin looks to Claire and then around for Eddie. “Eddie!” He calls, “We have to go, now!” Eddie dashes over and Merlin brings out his wand and stretches it into a staff and starts drawing a circle on the floor around the group. It was glowing with the same pale green light that they’d seen last night. “This will feel weird.” He stands inside the circle and thumps his staff on the ground in the centre of the circle. It growled, bowing before it ran off. A shining white wolf stood where Ruby had been standing earlier. Its eyes, a mixture of blue and green, stared at me. I nodded my head at it before it scurried off into the woods. I turned back at Emelia, “I need arrows, is there a way you can get them?” I asked. “Blackwood warriors are not just fighters, but good archers. I'll be back.” She smiled, changing to her wolf self. A black wolf, its blue eyes shining brightly. A howl escaped its lips as it ran towards the opposite direction.

(SHEILA'S POV) As dusk settled over the woods, I found myself amidst the gathering darkness, my steps muffled by the forest floor. With Emberlyn leading the way, accompanied by her loyal mercenaries, we pressed on in search of Orion. My heart yearned to bridge the gap between myself and my step-sister, seeking an opportunity for conversation amid the tense atmosphere.
