Sam felt happy seeing the inscription, ' I Love You, Mum.' on the cake. All thanks to Edward else she would have baked a dough and said it's a cake.

I ignored it, but Mikel saw. "What else did you learn to cook?" Emma asked, not knowing what was going on. "Well, I can make grilled cheese, spaghetti, and something called 'emergency cookies' for when someone is sad." "Emergency cookies?" "Chocolate chip cookies that take fifteen minutes when someone needs cheering up." Emma's eyes went big. "Can we have emergency cookies tonight? Not because I'm sad, but because they sound good." "If your mom says it's okay." They both looked at me, waiting, and I knew this was how it would be. Two pairs of eyes asking me, including me in everything. Being part of a team again scared and thrilled me.

“It’s fine. I’m not hungry anyway.” “Are you sure?” Emma asked, looking at me like I was a pathetic bird with a broken wing. “Want one of my Zebra Cakes?” In all of the years that I have known Emma O’Sullivan, she has never once offered me a Zebra Cake. Ever. I must have looked really pitiful. “No, Em. Thank you,” I said, forcing a smile. “I would really, truly let you have it.” That made my grin more genuine. “I’m sure you would.”

They chuckled together, kissed, and started unpacking the food from the brown paper bag. “We need to eat fast if we’re gonna get you that million today. What’d you get me?” asked Lucas, rubbing his hands together. He looked as though he was ready to eat the wrappers and all. “The usual; bacon breakfast burrito, extra potato, extra bacon, light egg. Just like you like it.” Emma told him in a sing song kind of way. She was always bubbly, especially after her morning coffee. Lucas smiled from ear to ear. “And for you, let me guess; ham and egg, no potato, extra cheese?”

She glanced up, catching the sunlight illuminating his features. He looked like an ethereal figure, too perfect for this world. It was entirely unfair. “Dreams have a way of coming true,” Damien countered, playfully pinching her cheek. “Whatever,” Eva said, brushing off his remark as she finally managed to open the box. Her eyes lit up when she saw the contents inside: rice cakes from Hedong, her absolute favorite treat.
