It moved away the closer she got. A primal fear filled her. She needed that light. Stumbling through the darkness the light sped up every time she did. Her heart ached at the idea of it disappearing. She didn’t even realize it when tears streamed down her face. The overwhelming emotional rollercoaster of a day was finally too much and she couldn’t hold it back anymore.

I sniffed, looking up at him. “I just want to be left alone; that is how I can heal,” I said. “Okay, I will make sure you are left alone,” he said, pecking at my lips. I smiled, hugging him back. My life has surely been a roller coaster. One moment I am happy, and another I am drowning in my own tears. I just hope there are no more surprises because I can’t handle any emotional things again. What I didn’t know is that things are about to get worse, and once again, my emotions are going to be tested. But will I get weaker and more defenseless or actually fight for myself and my happiness?

“Okay, that’s understandable. But why tell you when I can just show you?” Everything that followed those words happened in an instant. One minute, I was fighting against what she wanted to show me, and the next, flashes of scenes and images unfolded right before my eyes. It was all mind-boggling. As soon as one scene ended, another began. I hardly had the time to comprehend what was going on, let alone discern the emotional roller coaster each scene took me on. Moments filled with joy and love intertwined with moments filled with rage, anguish, and grief.

In that moment, he felt truly alive, relishing the joy that enveloped them all. They rode the roller coaster multiple times, screaming, laughing, and clinging onto each other for dear life.
