🎀CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-ONE🎀 The next morning, the infirmary was filled with the sharp, medicinal scent of crushed herbs. A middle aged woman healer named Martha, moved around the stone counters with the agility of someone half her age, her hands steady as she organized the various vials. In a sudden, clumsy moment, her elbow caught the edge of a ceramic basin. It hit the floor with a heavy thud, and a thick, dark liquid splattered across the stone tiles.

Cody couldn’t stop himself from panicking, he couldn’t tell what had just happened, he looked over and saw her glasses beside her, it must have fallen from when she fainted and he couldn’t save it because he had her to save first. Cody lifted her up by himself and beckoned on the people around for help, a young girl wearing a plaid skirt and a sweat shirt with high knee boots seated in the restaurant got up immediately to help him. She searched for his keys in his pocket and then she helped him open the door while he fit Arlene into the back sit. He begged the lady to go with him because this was his first time handling a patient and he knew nothing about saving lives, this wasn’t a theatre

the nurse politely asked Maria. "I am ok. I just need some water please," she said. The nurse immediately pour some water and gently gave it to Maria. "Where is Echo?" Maria asked. "Your husband left for work, Madam. He said he will come back later. I am Kenna, your private nurse," the nurse answered her. Maria nodded and continue drinking her water. "As per Doctor Manrique, you are under complete bedrest Madam. Please inform me of everything you need. You are not allowed to move a lot. Even when you are going to pee and use a comfort room, I need to assist you, Madam," the kind nurse told Maria.

The primary healer at the Westshore Medical Center was a close associate of a certain female she had seen with Roman months ago—the sleek, red-furred warrior he had visited in the Northern Kingdom during the height of the border disputes. Her suspicions had been confirmed back then. He had gone to see her. I wrote on the notepad again, "What does this have to do with the healer?" The beta's expression turned serious, "The healer specializes in helping pregnant women who have experienced trauma. She can help you cope with your emotions and ensure a healthy pregnancy." I felt a lump form in my throat as I heard the beta's words. No one had ever offered to help me like that before. I had always been on my own, fighting to survive. I looked up at the beta, searching for any sign of ulterior motives. But all I saw was kindness and concern in his eyes.

A nurse told her to calm down, but Elleanna grabbed her wrist and broke it. “THIS HURTS!!!!!” She snarled as more pain engulfed her whole lower body. The nurse winced and then pushed a narcotic pain medicine into the IV. A few moments later Elleanna fell asleep. “She is not allowed out of bed until tomorrow at least…she almost needed more blood.“ Doctor Jeana said. They moved her, Romero, and the baby into a recovery room. She woke up a few hours later and looked at Romero. “I’m sorry I hurt the nurse…”

Seraphina's POV "We do what I've been trained to do." I put my hand on his face and his jaw was tight under my palm. "I'm a healer. I've delivered babies. I know what's happening and I need you to breathe and help me walk to our room."

Despite my pain, my breath catches as I feel all that dark energy brush against my skin almost as if it’s taken physical form. “Damien!” Fera’s roar has Damien retracting the dark energy and he gives her a sulky look. They’re both ignoring me at this point as Fera snaps, “I’m not going to harm her and you know it.” The pain is worsening by the second but I breathe past it, flinching when Feara touches me, “J-Just who are you supposed to be?” “I’m-” Fera exchanges a look with Damien before continuing, her voice strange, “the one who’s been looking after you. I’m a healer.”
