Enzo said, his hand on my lower back, "this is Elena Wayne. My wife."
The silence was deafening.
Then a man probably in his fifties stood, extending his hand. "Marcus Penn. CFO. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Wayne."
"Just Elena," I said, shaking his hand.
"We had no idea Enzo was married," a younger woman said, her tone friendly. "He's very private."
"That's one word for it," another man joked.
Enzo smiled, unbothered. "I wanted to keep my personal life separate. But Elena's important to me, and I wanted you all to meet her."
