“Aren’t I right, Regan?”
Regan, who has been silent up until this point just nods.
“He can’t speak right now,” Annabelle says in an apologetic tone. “You remember how Regan excelled at ancient languages when we were studying together here, Ferguson?”
Ferguson doesn’t say anything, and Annabelle continues in a drawl, “Well, when we went out to teach in Oxford, he came across this book, a book written in the ancient language by Flavius Tarquin.”
I feel Jesse’s hand flex around mine, a hiss leaving his mouth. When I shoot him a concerned look, all the color has left his face. He looks horrified for some reason.
