Madeline's POV "So, which of these options do you prefer?" The pastry chef smiled as she arranged an elaborate selection of sweets on the white marble table of her boutique. The place was one of those expensive Belmonte spots—pale pink walls, crystal chandeliers, and a display case that looked more like a jewelry store than a bakery. "We have gourmet pistachio chocolate truffles, coconut truffles with Brazilian nuts, caramel fudge bites made with artisanal dulce de leche, and mini Belgian chocolate éclairs that have been a huge hit at this season’s events."

Madeleine announced, padding barefoot back into the room with a ceramic tray balanced in her hands, her alpaca socks were now gone. Three mugs of chamomile tea and a little plate stacked with what looked like cookies, pale, crumbly things dotted with nuts and seeds. Her eyes flicked between me and Vince, her smile as soft as ever, “I didn’t know if you were hungry, Vincenzo, but it’s chamomile. And vegan cookies, oat flour, almond butter, flaxseed, no dairy, no eggs. I make them all the time for my friends,” she said.

The cookies had flowers engraved on it with a strawberry jam in the middle. She nodded and took the offer, getting one cookie and took a bite on it. Her mouth was filled with white vanilla filling and strawberry jam from the cookie.

She was totally aware of the Cyan eyes stalking her every move but she didn't want to focus on how uncomfortable it was. Completing the easy task of cleaning her kitchen space, Sre's chocolate brown eyes brushed the clock; barely any time had passed and the dough had to cool for an hour so they'd hold their shape whilst they bake in the oven. I accepted her offer and she got up and disappeared behind the counter coming back a few minutes later with a collection of six madeleines on a plate. I made a small variety of shortbread, chocolate chip macadamia cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and macadamia cookies.
