The Us Between Chaos
I shook my head without meeting his eyes.
"Next time," I said, walking past him. Relief and a tinge of sadness coiled inside me. I glanced at Hank, smiling at him.
"Congrats again. I enjoyed the company. Thank you," I said. He grabbed my wrist, pulling me into a hug.
"Ya!" I heard someone yell. I pulled away and turned to see Jarred holding Hade, leading him back to their table. Enzo guided me toward the parking lot gently.
I realized then: relationships give you things—comfort, emotional support, compatibility. You take what you need, hoping it fills the void inside you. But what happens when it doesn’t? Do you just look for someone else, continuing the cycle endlessly?
