Finally, I watched her settle in as the air between us felt heavy, the type that forced out truth without it trying.
The PI pulled out a small notebook. “Tell me exactly what's going on.”
I slowly inhaled and smiled for a few seconds.
“It's… complicated,” I started. “I've been married for over two years now. I know things aren't always perfect, but they weren't this horrible , not until recently.”
The words spilled out before I could barely stop them.
“My husband, Ezra— I do not understand him anymore. He is now distant and he lies about small things. And…” I swallowed. “And I feel he's seeing someone else.”
