CHASING HIS REJECTED MATE
The river surged around me, pulling me under, its cold embrace wrapping around my body, dragging me into its depths.
I didn’t fight, I didn't know how to fight, and even if I did, I didn't want to. I let myself sink, let the current take me. The water filled my lungs, sharp and cold, but there was no panic. Only relief. The pain in my chest melted as the world grew darker, the sound of the river fading into a soft hum. I closed my eyes, my body weightless, my heart slowing down.
I know I was dying and I was finally at peace at last, maybe, this was what I would have done the moment Brake told me it was over.
