Saying goodbye was never one of Alice's strengths. She hated saying goodbye. It was usually her final words to somebody when she knew she never would see that person again. Then I let go of Ray's hand and felt myself falling into the river, with Ray's horrified look stuck in my mind. I'm sorry Ray, I wish I could stay, but I can't. No matter how hard we try, we might never be together. Closing my eyes, I landed on a thud on the liquid wall and felt it consume me as I swallowed water. Not fighting for air or anything, I felt myself sink lower into the river as the current pulled me along. I had died... Again.

As I reached the familiar view my eyes first laid upon unknowingly returning to this world, I stopped in my tracks. The clear blue water still flowed beneath the large rocks it passed through. The low sound of the current still gave the kind of warning to the people who dared to see the beauty of the violent monster below the bridge. In this river, I died once. It wouldn't hurt to do it twice, right? I stood on top of the railings, aiming to jump, and closed my eyes as I felt the moment of my existence, of living.

To be honest, I was not ready to die now. . I was starting to lose my strength, and decided to just be quiet and get along with the current. I could feel my body crash against the rocks in the river. It was very painful, but I could not fight against it. It was so hard and so challenging. This is the day when I will eventually die, probably. After so many attempts of Death trying to take my soul away, this time it will finally win. Maybe this is my time. Finally. I never imagined my death to be this cold and eerie.

I walked out of the common room and headed out to the river; a place where I would be able to get myself together, and let out my feelings the way I ought to. This river wasn’t just an ordinary river. It was the river where my mother’s ashes were poured into. On getting to the river, I fell to the ground, close to it, staring blankly at it.

Getting to the midpoint of the bridge, I stared into the river below, the moon reflecting off its surface. “ It's pretty,” I muttered to myself while smiling broadly but found tears falling down my eyes. “ Why am I crying?” I asked myself like I didn't know the reason why. I never knew it would be so hard to say goodbye, to let go of everything and finally find peace. What even was peace? If I died would everything end? I wouldn't need to think about how bad Ricardo hurt me, would I? If dying meant leaving all my sorrows and regret behind, then maybe this wasn't a bad idea.

“No… no…” Consumed by the freezing cold, Elena slowly sank deeper into the lake. Her eyes filled with pain and suffering as she looked upward— seeing the reflection of the moon above. Am I going to die here? Die for nothing? If I die… will anyone even care? Ah… what am I saying… I’m just someone who’s always been neglected… maybe if I die here, all this pain will finally disappear… Elena whispered weakly.
