April turned to Colton who immediately signalled one of his men to play a video that had been curated and modelled to push the story. Soon enough, a video of Mrs Evelyn was placed on the TV, showing her acting out after she saw the body of her husband. The video was muted and soon spanned to one of the videos taken earlier on after she had been drugged. Mrs Evelyn was caught on camera muttering unintelligible things as she grieved her husband's death. By the end of the video, everyone believed that Mrs Evelyn had been driven to insanity at the loss of her husband and needed psychiatric attention.

Evelyn’s POV I sat on the edge of the bed, my hands buried in my face. My whole body still felt heavy from the drink the night before. I couldn’t even look at myself in the mirror. What have I done? A married woman… with a child… how could I let myself go that far? The image of that man — cold, handsome, the way he threw that card at me — it still burned in my mind. I wasn’t that kind of woman. I had never been.

Girls will be girls. “I’ve read a lot of books about human behavior Miles. It was all about learning the different gender of a…” “Oh, oh, yeah. We already knew that.” She raises her hands-on air and rolled her eyes. She turns on the music loud inside this car without even my concern and shouted to me her response, “Don’t try me your dirty little psychology tricks. I’m not buying that anymore!” A minute later I harshly stop the car and turn off the radio. “What are you doing!”

Elio sighed softly. "You wouldn’t understand!" It was all because he loved her. That was why he would protect her no matter how painful it was! Evelyn sent him the location. He told Alicia where to go and then stopped talking, falling into deep thought. In the hotel’s private room, Evelyn sat around the table with her best friends Jenny and May. They were all beautiful, fair, and rich The fourth person at the table was a young man who looked to be in his thirties. He was handsome and wore branded clothes. He even had a million-dollar Patek Philippe watch on his wrist. He was just the type of eligible bachelor countless women lined up for.

We have plenty of time to play. My chest starts to ache. I close my eyes and breath deeply through my nose. The memories threaten to return, and bile rises in my throat. I don't recognize the bell going off as I slam the locker shut. I draw attention from those nearby, and they whisper among themselves. I run to the bathroom, the door slamming against the wall. The girls inside that are checking their makeup jump, and glare when they see it’s me. “You don’t look so good, Psycho.” A girl with brunette hair smirks at me. I ignore her and close the door to the open stall.

When the elevator stopped in the basement, Evelyn felt like a fool for assuming too many things. Maybe because the things she had read in Pam’s article had stuck in her head. Why had she even thought he would try to explain his actions? Or maybe tell more lies to try to get her back?

It was something I didn't even need on my angel. I walked slowly over to the end of the desk and rounded it, taking long and deliberate strides. I kept my eyes locked on hers. Her purple-painted lips quivered in anticipation. I narrowed my gaze on her chest and noticed her nipples poked through her thin Walmart shirt. I could tell they were big and pierced. Before my angel, I would've gladly rutted into this girl senseless. I would've pounded her until she bled and cried. Then I would've left, sated and indifferent. Now, I was just revolted by the idea that this woman would offer herself up this way. Her desperation reeked like cheap perfume.

Evelyn Hart had never considered herself dramatic. She was the kind of person who folded grocery bags neatly, apologized when someone bumped into her, and made pro and con lists before making even mildly important decisions. And yet here she was, storming out of a cafe like the heroine of a melodramatic soap opera except she felt nothing like a heroine. She felt foolish, betrayed, and painfully human. The screen of her ex-boyfriend’s phone had glowed with a text she couldn’t unsee:

**Evelyn** As I waited for the car, I allowed the adrenaline coursing through me to settle. The street was eerily quiet, a stark contrast to the chaos that had just unfolded inside. My gloved hands flexed at my sides as I replayed the exchange in my head, analyzing every detail. Killian wanted me to prove myself, and I planned to exceed his expectations. But this wasn’t just about him—it was about reclaiming the power I’d always known I was destined for. It was about getting revenge. It was about proving father wrong.
