The desk was spotless, and everything in its place. Years of marriage had clued me into Nom's routines. I went straight for the hidden keys tucked under the desk and with a familiar flick, I had them in hand. The lock clicked open, and an old, well-thumbed photo album was in my hands. The worn cover told tales of many nostalgic moments. I felt a painful squeeze in my chest at the thought. I pushed aside the hurt, flipping through the album with a sense of urgency, my movements almost violent. The first photo hit me like a punch.

If you don't obey, none of them survive. "Forget it. I'm done wasting my breath." Turning to Jayden, she snapped, "Stop arguing with her. Tina comes first." Then she grabbed my arm again. "Our people are going with you. You'll stay connected through satellite phones the entire time. "If you try anything, your friends die." She was desperate. The same kind of desperate I had been ten years ago. Back when I lost my daughter. Without a word, I reached into my pocket and pulled out a fruit knife.

He was more than angry. He entered. The cave was bright as Rit on New Year's Eve. Once, long ago, he went to Rit to buy supplies. The city was lit, every corner of the city was bright. He got lost; he wandered for hours, until he found the shop. The shop was bright as the town. Tonya made a moan of disgust and walked towards the small kitchen to get her chores done for the brief moment Thaddeus was out of the house. Thaddeus slept round the clock. It was a dip of fresh air for Tonya, this was the only moment she got herself to read. She always imagined living in a fancy house with a massive archive of books in her library. I burst out in tears when I told her about the close proximity to Joana. Finally, after some time, I calmed down and fell asleep. The next day, while I was walking to work, I saw a big cardboard box which said, 'For free'. When I peaked inside the box, I squealed.

"Try messing with my sister, and you're asking for a beating!" If there really were such a thing as a parallel universe, I was sure there was one where we were all one big happy family. With that thought, I turned to her and said, "Janet, come home with me."

My clock on my nightstand says 4:48AM. A nightmare. I haven’t had one since last year. The anniversary is today. It’s been 5 years since I lost everything and said goodbye to my parents. My everything gone in 8 days. I get out of bed chuck on my converse and grab my phone and keys. Before I tip toe down the hallway trying not to wake the girls and head out the front door. I don’t know where I’m going but I can’t stay in my room. I just drive. No music. Just me and my thoughts.

All you have to do is to enjoy life, live the day like every day is having limited edition shoes that everyone couldn’t have. Of course, we must be grateful.
