He coughed, a dry, hacking sound that sent shivers down her spine. "But what, Grandpa?" Evie pressed, a knot forming in her stomach. "I fear my time… may be short," he continued, his voice barely above a whisper. "The company needs a strong hand, someone I can trust. Adrian…" Evie's heart skipped a beat. Adrian Fiore, her grandfather's only grandson, was as much a part of her past as the childhood board games gathering dust in the attic. He was brilliant, yes, but also aloof and about as emotionally available as a server at a high-end restaurant. An arranged marriage hadn't even crossed her mind – not until now.

Evie saw me and ran over. “Uncle Reiner! I missed you so much!” She threw her arms around my neck as I bent over scooping her up. Looking into her eyes, I knew the tests were right. It was like looking into the eyes of a mini-Myla. “I missed you too. My little lady.” I could feel the tears stinging my eyes knowing I was holding my daughter. My own flesh and blood. Myla was watching me hugging Evie. She smiled as she wrapped her arms around both of us. “My family.” She whispered.

I declared, determination filling my voice. My uncle smiled, his expression proud. “Then let’s get to it,” he replied, clapping me on the back. “Welcome to Windamere Academy, Evie. Your adventure is just beginning.” As we walked deeper into the heart of the academy, I felt a surge of excitement coursing through me. I was ready to embrace this new world, to learn about my own abilities, and to discover where I truly fit among the dragons, vampires, sirens, and wolves of Windamere. With my legacy as a guide, I was prepared to carve my own path as an Intellect, just like my parents before me.

Shayan never told me that Evie was her sister, I assumed that Jesus, could the speculation be true? I looked over at Shayan and Evie, Shayan was carrying her stroking her hair and Evie was fast asleep. Her brown hair was in contrast to Shayan's pitch black hair and none of her parent's hair was that colour. Her nose and lips reminded me of Tess's when she was younger and there was the birthmark. How did I never connect the dot? Evie is my daughter? My head was spinning around, obviously, Shayan would have told me if she got pregnant and had my child right? She wouldn't do that to me.

They questioned her and asked, "So, Eva is an alpha's daughter, or what? Within the pack, we couldn't recall ever having seen her before." We didn’t need anyone else, least of all Mike. Dad sighed, mistaking my silence for contemplation. “I know you’re protective of her,” he continued, his tone softening. “And I’m grateful for that, truly. But Evie isn’t a little girl anymore. She needs a partner, someone who can take care of her in the ways that family can’t.”

“As in Evangeline Crocker.” I freeze, my body turning to ice as a cold child runs up and down my spine. How can such a warm and generous person, a woman who had wanted to adopt me, be related to my greatest enemy? Is the universe so cruel? “Oh yes, little Evie is my niece. She took my brother’s spot as a Legacy I believe. Do you know her? How is she doing? Are you two friends?” She seems to have no idea what kind of a demon spawn her niece has become. I wonder if she ever really knew her, despite being family

Don't ever pull such a stunt again. I fought hard to keep the tears from falling. My wolf was already dead. After contracting Wolf-Soul Decay syndrome, my wolf had grown weaker day by day, causing my organs to slowly fail, and it would also eventually lead to my death. "Dad, you have to believe Evie has changed for the better. The selfish, attention-seeking Evelina who used to fake fainting to get attention is gone. Evie is sensible and kind now." Though it appeared that Megan was defending me, she was actually subtly reminding everyone of my past flaws and how someone like me was inherently untrustworthy.

Evie started peppering me with what felt like a million questions. “Yes, she is very pretty,” I admitted smiling softly, thinking back to how good she looked in that retro skirt and blouse. My smile faded when I thought of the rest of my sister’s questions. “She’s the human executive assistant to Delta Silvercloud.” I sighed as my family gasped at this news. “Another human in the pack!?” Dad blinked. “She must be something special for the Goddess to bring her into our world.” Mom nodded. “Is she like Beta Sarael?” Evie asked.

Both Kai and Ryan looking surprised. "As in Kat and AJ Evan's daughter?" Ryan asks his mouth open. Everyone knew of Kat and AJ, the two greatest warriors ever known, they were fearless, audacious, quick-witted, anything you could think of. Both of them came from strong Alpha lines so it was no shock, however they could overpower most Alphas with the strength and agility the two of them had.
