And standing beneath them, bathed in the pale, sickly light of the moon, was Elion.
The black energy coiled around his forearms like smoke obeying its master. His eyes, once familiar and soft, now glowed with a faint, malevolent violet light that seemed to drain the very color from the night. Then, slowly, he turned toward me. He didn't look like a victim of a kidnapping. He looked like a god passing judgment.
He smiled... not warmly, not sadly.... dreadfully.
