“Enough,” she snapped. “I don’t want excuses. I want competence.”
Something inside me finally snapped.
“I am competent,” I said, my voice trembling despite myself. “I’ve been—”
Grace laughed, short and humorless. “Really? Because from where I’m standing, you’re a liability.”
