Noah gets some supplies out of the trunk—a large picnic blanket, a picnic basket, and some pillows that I finally manage to convince him to let me carry after several rounds of pleading. The farmhouse itself is a cute cottage-style house with an interior that immediately draws me in and makes me feel at home. But it’s the outside area, the one he’s gone the liberty of decorating with fairy lights and candles that take my breath away. Those are the only lights around us besides the stars overhead. Usually, in the city, we don’t get to see the full beauty on display. But out here where there’s less artificial light, they’re really showing off, decorating the otherwise black sky with starlight.

At the end of the aisle stood an overarching rose candelabra, with aquamarines shimmering in between, bringing the fairytale to life. But the decor wasn’t my fairytale, it was the man stood underneath it. Nate stood at the end of the aisle, watching me slowly make my way towards him, as his eyes flooded with joyous tears.

[Gia’s POV] These two handsome gentlemen and I reached the back patio of our home. The door frame is lit up with warm fairy lights and bouquets of white roses in vases lined up outside the door. We walked under the door threshold, and I was struck by the most fantastic scene. The fairy lights we hung outside are glowing like tiny stars across the roofline. They curl around banisters and posts like magic made tangible. The fire pit flickers in the distance, flames dancing lazily in the warm summer night. The dinner table is set—nothing fancy, just a handful of candles and a little wildflower arrangement I picked from the back garden. It’s not much. But it’s us. And for May, it’s perfect.
