From under me, I felt the ley line burst from the ground and glow green above us. Taking a haggard breath, I reached up with my left hand and caressed her cheek. She took hold of my hand and pressed her cheek into it, holding it to her. The fire simmered down and the forest stopped its shaking. “Will you let me go this time?” I asked her, pleadingly. She shook her head against my hand. “Not yet my child. You still have life, you still have purpose.” Fairies started to stream forward and place leaves on my right shoulder. They attached the leaves to me, as though it was a skin covering my wound. They layered leaf upon leaf as they built up my shoulder again.
