Fallen Book Novels & Stories

"It is Draven. He is fine." A pause. "Of course he is," Darius said quietly. The librarian spent the next ten minutes carefully examining the fallen shelf, the scattered books, and the damaged railing. Kael helped stack the books into neat piles. Several of them had fallen open to random pages, and as he collected them, one caught his eye. He picked it up. The title on the open page read: On The Nature of Probability Manipulation in Pre-Civilization Eryndor. Kael read the first paragraph.

“That book… it’s in all the old tavern stories. The Demon Lord of Thunder and Death. His relic. They say whoever opens it risks being cursed forever.” “I already opened it,” I said dryly, flicking the cover shut with a soft thump. “And I’m fine.” Norma looked horrified. “That’s exactly what they all say before lightning strikes and a thousand skeletons start tap dancing in their basement.” That finally pulled a laugh out of me. I couldn’t help it. Norma crossed her arms. “It’s not funny. The name ‘Maximus the Fallen’ isn’t some bedtime story.” My humor faded just a little. I glanced back at the book. Maximus the Fallen.

[The Architecture of Ruin] The weight of his fingers bruising my hip was the only solid thing left in a world that had dissolved into a sea of absolute, screaming crimson. Sitting on the lap of a god who no longer knew how to love me, I realized that the cage hadn’t disappeared when the Spire fell—it had simply expanded to enclose the entire human race.

A shiver ran down my spine. Retracing my steps, I padded over to the table, which had the item lying on it. It was a book, a really, really old book. Flipping through the pages, I discovered it was a journal, its pages detailing the fall of a great alpha king. My brows scrunched. What the hell is an alpha? However, before I could read further, an unseen force hit me, nearly sweeping me off my feet.

Jasmine went flying into the basement falling down the stairs from the drawback force. Gabriel could sense she was in trouble and bit through the pain of lifting himself up. It was as if The Almighty himself was giving him strength because the Guild member holding him down looked worried as to how he was able to move him. A blast came from the corridor blasting through the walls as if a bomb exploded. The drawback knocked the Guild off of Gabriel then, causing him to worry for Jasmine.

And yet, I had found power here in the past, buried between forgotten scrolls and ancient pages inked with truth. I let my fingers trail along the spines of the books as I walked slowly through the rows, dust clinging to my skin like memory. These books did not fear me. They did not lie to me. They did not twist love into leverage or silence into punishment. They simply were. I stopped in front of a worn leather tome entitled The Fall of Kingdoms, and smiled bitterly. The irony was thick enough to choke on. A book about ruined thrones, resting on the shelf of a woman bound to a crumbling one. The gods truly had a sense of humor—vicious, sharp, and cruel.

The girl took turns blowing dust on the two books that had been originally covered with Air Talent. One is titled ENCHANTED and the other is titled WOLVIRE, both appear to be writings from someone n

If I remembered them truly,if I held every scar, every fear, every laugh, they could walk again beside me. The power settled into my marrow like a second heartbeat. And then, the book crumbled. It just… dissolved. One moment it was there, the next, only a pile of fine gray ash on my desk. I tried to stand. My legs gave out. The world tilted. Darkness rushed in at the edges of my vision. I collapsed to the floor, my head striking wood with a dull thud. The last thing I felt was warmth spreading through my chest in completion. Then, nothing.
