Fallen for the Dark

My pulse was deafening. Fear tangled with desire, nerves alive, every part of me alert. “Who… who is that?” I whispered.
“Someone who shouldn’t exist here,” he said, voice low, dangerous. “And someone who can’t touch you—not while I’m near.”
The figure stopped, hesitated, then retreated, vanishing into the fog. My chest heaved with adrenaline and fear. I glanced up at him, eyes wide, heart racing, and for the first time, I saw vulnerability there—something dark and jagged beneath the calm, magnetic surface.
