"It feels… hollow," I confessed. The truth was, the accusations had unearthed a layer of self-doubt I hadn't known existed. Did I ever say something off-color to Grace? Made an inappropriate joke that blurred the lines? Maybe said something I hadn’t thought much about but that had actually offended her? Memories, usually razor-sharp in my business dealings, blurred and fractured.
