The neon sign outside “THE FULL MOON” bar flickered with a buzzing sound that usually meant a bulb was about to explode, but inside the air was a scent of cheap whiskey, expensive cigar smoke, and the musky pheromones of filthy restless werewolves. “My name is ROXY” I stood backstage, leaning against a peeling locker watching Jax, adjust his glittery thong in the mirror. Dark hair, sharp jawline, and intense green eyes that seemed to see right through her. His smile was easy but carried an edge. “Yeah, hi,” she said, suddenly aware of how tight her yoga pants and cropped hoodie felt. “Thanks for fitting me in so late.”

I put on more makeup than usual, but still much less than Mom and Jaxon probably expected. When I made my way downstairs for the official introductions, I’d managed to calm myself. Jax said in pain whilst softly placing his hand on her waist. "I'm screaming about Lani you idiota! Her cumpleaños, Jaxon! Her party! Scar stared at them - he didn't understand how Jax was so calm even though she was calling him every name under the sun. Scar didn't believe in love and affection, he had only ever felt pain, love was almost a fantasy to him.

I growl under my breath. Fara scowls. "Stop being a whiny little piss baby. You don't have to pout; you can go fuck each other later." Jaxon rolls his eyes with a low growl. "Fine but next time you have to ask if you want to join us for dinner in here." "Yeah yeah whatever—shit you have to try this wine," Fara laughs, staring with wide eyes at her cup. "I'm not a big fan of wine," Jax says, holding his hand up when she starts to pour some into his glass.

“Every time I see you, you turn more intoxicatingly alluring than before.” He offered me a glass of red wine. Jax was thirty-three years old, five years older than me. I had recently turned twenty-eight. “I should say the same about you. You are getting too hot for the Spring pack. Why don’t you join the Summer pack instead?” I chuckled. He sneered, “oh, come on, you know those bastards. The way they keep all their internal affairs a secret, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were doing some crazy experiments on people in their pack.”
