It hissed, tried to lunge, but I slammed it down again, claws pinning it to the floor.
My snarl ripped through the room as I dragged my hand across its face.
I didn’t kill it. Not yet. It had touched her, and for that, it would suffer first.
“You could have snapped its neck, you know,” Kainan said casually, crouching near the writhing vampire. He poked at it with the tip of his shoe like it was nothing more than a broken toy.
“But no, you like your little temper tantrums, don’t you?” He grinned, tilting his head too far to the side as if the suffering was some private joke only he got.
