Satisfied with Sarrtina's malicious attack on Zaralina, Soliaire starts to come for me again but this time I'm ready for him. He attempts to grab me, no doubt to continue his cruel torture. But I don't give him the chance to touch him, I unleash all my powers on him, just like Aurora would, and send him flying across the room. "Master!" Sarrtina gasps, the unfamiliar sight of her master being losing the upper hand startling her. But she doesn't have time to come and help him redeem himself because Zaralina quickly takes advantage of her momentary distraction to pounce on her and finally take control of the fight.

Not only had she broke my heart, but she also had it trampled as well. There was nothing left but sadness, bitterness, and utter disappointment.

“A mage. It’s kind of like a witch… but I draw upon the forces of nature. I get my strength from the forest.” She didn’t blink for several seconds as she tried to figure out if I was telling her the truth or making things up. After a while, she shook her head and mumbled a curse word under her breath, which immediately drew my mom’s disgust. “Sorry,” Grayson said. “It’s just… I don’t know how any of that is possible. You’re trying to tell me that those wolves were Sam, Ben, Joshua, and Raven?” “Yes,” I assured her. “Just because they have the same color of eyes?”

"Got it. Though we had to outsmart some very annoying Pokers to get it." "Pokers?" Nyla raised an eyebrow. "Evil little tree creatures who like to trap people in pits and collect their bones," Dalia said with a shudder. "But we figured it out. Eventually." "What about you two?" Kaida asked. "You both look like you've seen ghosts." "Something like that," I muttered, not ready to talk about what I'd had to do in the Mad Mage's cottage. Maybe I never would be. Then Gretchen and Kai appeared. Gretchen's hair hung heavily with damp strands plastered across her face, and she was wearing what looked like a jacket over her shoulders, shivering slightly.

the spellcaster said to the others, obviously drained from the amount of magic required to keep the griffin subdued. Madeleine's eyes widened in surprise. A griffin. Or rather, nobody had ever believed anybody who had claimed to see one. “Load them up,” a voice commanded, pulling her from her thoughts. “We're leaving now.” Both cages were loaded up into a bigger wagon and they moved deeper into the forest. Madeleine felt her wolf sit up. She sensed danger and she knew the danger wasn't coming from the poachers or the griffin.

A deafening crack echoed as the relic splintered, its energy dissipating into nothingness. The golems froze mid-stride, their forms crumbling into piles of inert stone. Velmont exhaled in relief and turned to make his way back to Gertrude. Meanwhile, in the library, Gertrude sat in the chair to catch her breath. Soon, a familiar figure emerged in the darkness, and she was forced to face off against her former student, Jacques. The wizard stood atop a staircase, his staff glowing with arcane runes. Books and scrolls floated around him, each imbued with deadly magic.

Caleb POV I clawed at the witch with ferocity, my talons desperate to pierce her heart, to extinguish her malevolent power once and for all. She cannot be allowed to survive. Let her live or I’ll see your mate suffer for the rest of her days,” a voice slithers into my ears, chilling my blood. I whirl around to face the wizard, his jet-black hair and ghastly pale skin a horrifying presence. It can’t be true. Aurora would have fought back. Her shield would have protected her. How could Teddy possibly have captured her?
