As I held it in my hands, a surge of anticipation coursed through me. "I wonder what's in you," I said as I settled onto the plush cushions of the nearby armchair, cradling the book in my lap. Opening it gently, I was greeted by intricate illustrations and delicate handwriting that seemed to dance across the page. The words on the page weaved a tale of forbidden love and dark desires. It was a dark romance, filled with passion and danger, a story that both intrigued and captivated me. I was instantly drawn into the world of the characters, their struggles, and their yearning for a love that defied the odds.

The urge to go and walk around the castle more is strong, but I try to listen to my inner voice and I know for a fact that it is in my best interest to wait for Blade or one of the other Ambrose brothers to bring me out. I groan as I plop on my bed. I’m so bored and uneasy. I’m in a desperate need for something, anything to distract me. Pushing myself off the bed I decide to snoop around the room to try to find a book or something to keep me occupied. Finally a found a book titled, ‘the forbidden romance’. He wasn't there and the desk was empty, yet something in me lurched at the sight. ‘What was wrong with me?' I swallowed, looking away to center my thoughts. The books. Right. Plopping onto the soft surface, I looked properly at the books I acquired, ready to clear my mind. I let myself get drowned in the mass of words that came meaninglessly. The first book I read was some kind of fantasy romance adventure. One which entailed a woman who had to run away from her home and found herself another family in the form of two siblings and another pack. It was strange to say the least, but it kept my mind momentarily distracted.

The more I read the first pages, the more I forgot everything around me, zoning out and delving into the book. It had a twist, since the book was a fantasy romance, and talked about werewolves. But to be honest, I loved it since it was one of my favorite genres to read. I came back, looked around, and smiled seeing Nate, Kenzie, and myself had started reading the book. We were so engorged that we had completely forgotten where we were. Sophie smiled with pride, and winked at me, making me blush. It was without a doubt we were fellow bookworms to the core. I smiled, going back to reading, snuggling into Nate's arm as he begins to soothe my arm again.

“This is ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by Jane Austen. It’s a love story that many women adore.” Jack took the book and examined the cover. “It looks interesting. What else would you recommend?” The sales assistant continued selecting books, giving a brief description for each one. “Oh, and we also have some romantic adventure books, like ‘Treasure Island’ by Robert Louis Stevenson, which focuses more on adventure and pirates.” Jack listened carefully and selected several books with the assistant’s guidance. “I think she’ll like these,” he said, smiling. The sales assistant smiled back, growing a bit curious about the lucky woman who had managed to tie down a confirmed bachelor like Jack Colt.

And not just any romance—dark romance, enemies-to-lovers, mafia romance, arranged marriage, all the subgenres I devoured in private. "This is our most popular section," Edward said, noticing my reaction. "Romance readers are loyal. And they buy a lot of books." "I can see that." Next to it was fantasy. Then a section labeled "Romantasy" that made my heart skip. Sarah J. Maas. Jennifer L. Armentrout. Rebecca Yarros. All my favorites, beautifully displayed. "You read?" Edward asked. "Yeah. A lot, actually." "What genres?" "These, mostly." I gestured to the romance and fantasy sections. "Dark romance. Romantasy. Anything with morally gray characters and impossible love stories."
