The sight that befell Cilyna and Kaynon as they reached the side of the mountain had Cilyna staring in astonishment. An older woman with hip length silver hair sat cross legged in the center of a salt circle. There was no wind blowing through the trees, yet her hair was flowing all around her as if she had stuck her finger in a light socket though gently swaying to her soft siren chant. The setting sun was her spotlight and the small dust like particles floating in the air looked like glitter. The scene had a Disney magic feel to it.

Cassie started unloading the truck with her sisters. Everyone was working hard to get ready for that night’s festivities, and she definitely couldn’t be seen slacking. Tonight marked the beginning of the Harvest Moon festival, and her pack, Sableridge, was hosting for the first time in 19 years, the last time being the year of her birth.

I kneel on the damp earth, my knees sinking into moss, hands pressed to the ground as I whisper prayers to the Moon Goddess. It’s been years since I’ve felt her call this strong, a pull in my bones that drags me from my bed in the Nightshade compound. My silver hair hangs loose, catching the moonlight, and my breath steadies as I offer my heart to her guidance. Next week is a fullmoon so you can harvest power and energy and help us break free. Holly can't hold that and the only one I know to harvest energy from the sun is the high priestess from over the coven and that is Flora" I say.

The impact cracked the obsidian beneath us. My thumb, still unhealed and bleeding from the study, smeared across the ancient stone. The ground began to shake. A deep, tectonic groan rumbled from beneath the Silver Peak, and the crack in the moon widened, pouring a liquid, silver light onto the courtyard. Victor landed gracefully a few feet away, his face twisted in a mask of triumph. "You’ve done it for me, you fools! The blood has touched the stone! The Hunt is over... and the Harvest begins."
