Alien Invasion

Alien Invasion

Was she going to stay awake during the night and sleep during the day? As Julie looked to the pitch-black darkness outside her window, her thoughts flew back to the bright and sunny Southern Empire, her home. She was in a place that was far, far away from that familiar and comforting scene now and that realization that slammed into her heart made her feel an overpowering sense of homesickness within her.

The Billionaire's Substitute Bride

The Billionaire's Substitute Bride

SOPHIA Love and Guilt. The apartment smells like dust and damp paint. It creaks at night. The lights flicker sometimes like they’re tired, too. I don’t know who lived here before me. I don’t think they cared much about fixing things. But it’s mine for now. And it’s far. Far enough from him. Far enough from the mansion. Far enough from everything that broke. I didn’t take much when I left. Just a duffel bag and my coat. I forgot half my shoes. I forgot my charger. I forgot to breathe properly for days.

The Family I Outgrew

The Family I Outgrew

I told them the separation papers were notarized. If they were so concerned, they could call Brian. They just thought I was easier to pressure. I changed my number. When the company mentioned expanding out of state, I volunteered. These days, my only connection to that family is the monthly payment I send to the nursing home. Three years later, I was promoted to business manager. I didn't move back to that city. I bought a small apartment near my new office with a mortgage. I didn't rush into dating. I focused on my career.

An Outsider in My Own Family

An Outsider in My Own Family

Mom started pointing fingers and scolding me as if she finally found a way to attack me. She continued, "We're just asking for a room change, it's not like we're not bringing you along. And yet, you're saying such things—you really disappoint me, Heidi. "Back then, Madie chose to go abroad just to let you experience a complete family. Even after she came back, she was worried you'd mind, so she dared not come back home and rented a place herself. But now, you're even refusing her a room? How could you be so selfish?"

Revenge Becomes Her

Revenge Becomes Her

“I don’t know who I am anymore.” “That’s because you haven’t decided yet.” Madam Farwell pointed out. A beat of silence passes between them. The server steps forward quietly, bows, and pours the tea. “I asked to meet here because I knew you’d come if it wasn’t home. Too many ghosts there, I imagine.” Fallon nods faintly, her fingers tracing the rim of her saucer. “Home doesn't feel like mine anymore.” That’s because home isn’t a place. It’s a person.”

Continuing my review, It's been almost 50 years and I was a minor at the time. I've read this book 3 times now and it still triggered me but the ending is what keeps me reading. Healing takes a lifetime but it doesn't stop a survivor to live a happy life, millions don't make it out alive.

I got to chapter 82, feeling a familiarity the entire time I was reading the book. Finally saw this was the same author who penned "Goodbye My Love". Now I understand why I felt emotionally abused the entire time I was reading lmao. This author's works are NOT for the weak lol. But now I'm locked in

I'm an Outsider in My Own Home

I'm an Outsider in My Own Home

My first night away from home was spent on the thin, stiff mattress of a school dorm bed. As I listened to the occasional police sirens passing by outside the window, I actually felt an unprecedented sense of peace. I no longer had to endure being summoned and scolded at any moment, wait on those prized pets, or win over people who never once looked at me with warmth. It was the first time in 20 years I felt like I could really breathe. A few days later, Fabio's name lit up on my phone screen.

A Home After All

A Home After All

He stood in the doorway in his pajamas, rubbing his eyes. "Mom? Dad? Why are you crying?" He walked in and stared at the tears on their faces, confused. "Did Lily come home?" He looked around, and a little spark of hope lit his eyes. No one answered. That spark dimmed slowly, then disappeared, leaving only fear and confusion. "Where is Lily? Why isn't Lily back yet?" Mom crouched and took his hands. Tears kept falling. "Noah, your sister... your sister went somewhere very far away."

My Sweet Surrender (Aftermath Series #1)

My Sweet Surrender (Aftermath Series #1)

I smiled at him and went on writing. I'm really grateful that he's here with me today. I'd probably go crazy staring at the four walls of this small retail store. This place is just a few meters away from home, and there's not much crimes in Georgebury – which is probably why Papa let me take over. The houses here are almost half a kilometer away from each other, and I wholeheartedly wish to have more neighbors. "Did you read the last book I gave you?" My best friend asked.

The Man Who Left, The Family Who Stayed

The Man Who Left, The Family Who Stayed

On the day Evan Carter was supposed to meet my adoptive parents, his phone was turned off all day. As my future husband, he had confidently promised me the night before that he would win my parents over. Yet even after the server had refilled our glasses for the sixth time, I still couldn’t reach him. A few hours later, I came across a post from Evan’s assistant, Maya Collins. In the photos, Evan was sitting on her family’s couch with bags of expensive gifts around him, keeping her parents company. The caption read: “My family has been pressuring me to get married nonstop. Thank you to my amazing boss for stepping in and pretending to be my boyfriend so I could get through this!” Evan
