Love and Madness

Love and Madness

I looked down and curses that freaking weirdo in my head. “Faster baby girl!” he shouted making others look at him and then to me. “Fuck!”

Violets and Ash

Violets and Ash

My trembling hands were the only physical sign that I had been close to losing my shit. Grabbing fistfuls of my dress, I charged through the crowd with an urgency that some couldn’t help but notice. Heads turned here and there, but no one dared approach me. Pushing past gowns of all colors, some pastel and dainty, and others dark and seductive, I let the sea of people swallow me whole until it spat me out somewhere new—somewhere far from the likes of Blaze Madden.

I had trouble putting this down. Probably my favourite so far. Love the way the characters evolve and the interchange between them. Definitely not lacking in lots of plot twists and turns. Just when you thought it was safe… well done, Jane. Can’t wait to read your next books!!
Author K.C Rae
Absolutely beautiful writing, it’s been about a year since I’ve read Jane Doe’s work and I simply cannot believe how much she’s improved (not that she was bad/mediocre before). The story itself kept you captivated with lots of twists and turns, the characters were likable and spice was 4/5 stars

Far From Perfection

Far From Perfection

Still, I couldn’t stop the involuntary tremors of anger running through my body as I carried over the wine for their toast. No sooner had they finished than the crowd roared again, "Kiss! Kiss!" Victoria tilted her face up, closing her eyes. Standing just behind Ethan, I whispered desperately, "Enough. Even if this is just for show, you’ve gone too far. I’m furious." How foolish of me to think Ethan might care about whether I was upset. Without the slightest hesitation, he kissed her. Furthermore, it wasn’t a polite peck. It was hungry and reckless, as if the two of them might combust right there in front of everyone.

Distant Hearts

Distant Hearts

I won’t let anyone hurt her “Can we stop already?”, she asks, bending over her knees to get more air into her lungs “Come on, just ten more blocks” She groans “Let’s just take a break please” “No.. Now take five more breaths and let’s move on”. I continue jogging ahead without really waiting for her. She catches up and stays a few paces behind me. We reach a turn and I bump into a girl that’s walking a bit too fast. She looks up and I stop for a minute. You know when they say the darker the eyes, the harder to read? Well, I used to think that maybe if the eyes were a bit lighter, then we can probably be able to read it more but no, these girls eyes have to be the lightest shade of brown I’ve

From Teen Dad to Second Chance: After Rebirth, I Refuse

From Teen Dad to Second Chance: After Rebirth, I Refuse

"What kind of nonsense is this? I barely even know her. How could there be a kid between us? And Vera's a city woman. "Why would I mess around with some country woman like Camille?" Camille looked wounded and started to speak, but Howard cut her off. "I've got other business. All of you, get out. Stop crowding my door." Mr. Nixon hurried to back him up. "Yeah, yeah, break it up. There's work waiting in the fields." Back then, skipping farm work meant going hungry. No one wanted to risk that, so the crowd began to thin. Bertha looked ready to keep pressing me, but Camille suddenly burst into tears and took off. Bertha had no choice but to run after her.

Breaking the Alpha's curse

Breaking the Alpha's curse

Laughter echoed through the crowd like wind chimes, effortless and cruel at the same time. I stood near the edge of the festival, just outside the golden glow of the central fire. The beauty of it all felt distant, like a dream playing out for everyone else but me. I couldn't afford to dress for the feast. Even the maiden attire felt suddenly too tight, too fragile for what was coming. However, my heart wasn’t racing. It was sinking deeper with every passing second.

Three's a Crowd, so I'll Back Out

Three's a Crowd, so I'll Back Out

An hour before the college application deadline, I jolt awake in my hotel room in Chanont. My girlfriend, Evelyn Keate, and my adopted brother, Marvin Needham, are nowhere to be seen. I immediately call them, reminding them to get their applications in before the deadline. To my surprise, they burst out laughing. "We're already back home, and we got our applications in last night. You still haven't submitted yours?" I can hear my parents criticizing me in the background. My mom said, "He's always like this. He's so careless that he doesn't even take his own future seriously." "Marvin has always been so much easier," my dad remarked. Laughter and chatter fill the other end of the line

The Alpha's Rejected Luna and Her Secret Heir

The Alpha's Rejected Luna and Her Secret Heir

They are wearing whatever they were given at nine holdings, and half of them are barefoot because their feet have got too wide for boots in five weeks of walking, and Ingrid stops dead under the barbican and has to be moved on because she has never in her life gone under an arch. The Royal town is completely silent for the first two hundred yards, and then somebody starts up a noise at the back of the crowd, and it goes all the way down the street ahead of us like a fire in dry grass, and by the inner gate there are people hanging off the scaffolding on the mason's yard and a man on a roof shouting one name over and over, and the name is Hollis, and my mother walks the whole length of it loo
