It’s as if I’m watching a movie that was filmed on a go-pro. The brown and white wolf becomes restless. I knew my wolf would be able to wait him out. He bares his teeth and lunges forward. His front right paw swings at my face, claws fully extended. He is trying to slash my face open, possibly blind me in one eye. My wolf immediately ducks under his paw; I feel the air whoosh over my wolf’s ears. It feels like everything slows down, but I’m still moving quickly. As my wolf is crouched, she quickly seizes the opportunity to lunge forward at him, which he wasn’t expecting from a she-wolf. He didn’t think I could be calculating and calloused as a fighter. It’s my life or his. My pack or death.

Rue POV The bang was very loud. How can a person make so much noise? It's so annoying and I'm trying to sleep. I turned to the other side and felt a sharp pain. I groaned and sat up immediately. The bang came again. "Fvck!" It was coming from my door. I sprung up and rushed to open it. I was having a sweet dream. I dreamt of dad. He apologized to me and welcomed me back. Even if I've suffered, I still accepted him.

Oscar asked as he pointed to Jasper who was now close enough to see that he was almost totally turned. “From all that I’ve heard while in that cell, he’s still learning how to be a wolf,” Samuel scoffed. “We’re faster and more agile. I’m certain of it. Grab the girl and let’s get out of here.”

I hissed in annoyance as I exited the bank and drove my car out. How fucking dare that scumbag freezes my account without remorse; he had better fix it before I do something worse. I drove faster at high speed. Hoping I don't get into an accident. I'll just end up dying in regret because I didn't fulfil my fathers' wishes. That jerk will not be the end of me. I thought he was a nice guy; I couldn't believe I fell for his blue eyes; if only he knew how much I despised him; he should be grateful I didn't punch that cute face of his.

"Please, I want the book. One day I will understand." Brandt smiled and replied with humor, "If you ever make sense of it, let me know. You can then argue with my father on the merits of Christianity. He believes in the Goddess and loves nothing better than a good philosophical debate." He turned and picked up another book. It had a picture of a wolf with a snowy mountain background. "This is Jack London's Call of the Wild and it's the one we'll read first. Let's finish the cake and then get ready for our evening company."

Fru's mouth rounded in disbelief as the ink in the book rippled beneath her gaze, words liquefying into an emerald glow. "I want you stable right now" her mouth pursed with desperation as she tried to will the pulsing book between her hand to calm. "Oh gods, what the hell am I doing. Am I going crazy after all?" Fru's right hand rubbed her face, as the book glowed more fiercely, firm in its disobedience. Alive. Hungry. The courtyard melted away, swallowed by shadows and flame. Fru's eyes swerved overhead as she watched the leaves slow in motion. The scent of charred earth filled her nose, the air thick with heat.

Fury rolled off him like heat from a fire. “Seize that damn woman!”
