Curious beyond belief as to what it was they were murdering. There was what looked like a huge black rat, lying flat with the axe pierced through it. It had a long whipping tale. Almost like some lizards I’d seen back along the Sourthern Shores. It was a vicious looking thing with a thickly furred body on tiny spindly legs. Though it clearly had far too many legs for a rodent. Nearly as many as a spider. I’d never seen anything so horrifying. “What is that?” I pulled my head in to ask them.

Rosita’s POV I felt something furry brush against my skin, and my eyes snapped open. To my greatest horror, a large black rat was sitting on my chest, nibbling on a chunk of cheese. Overcome with fear, I let out a high-pitched scream. The rat jumped off my face, its razor-sharp claws scratching my skin, before dashing away.

But that’s not what caught my attention. Kneeling by the water, apparently washing some clothes, was a figure about the size of child, a ten-year-old maybe. But not a child. Not even a human. In fact what it most resembled was a large rat. Covered in white fur. With a tail. I nudged Maurice next to me and pointed. He slowly pushed himself up onto his elbows and looked in the direction I was indicating. His mouth fell open. “Is that a rat-woman?” The rat-person did look like a female. Not because she was doing the laundry (I’m not that sexist), not even because she was wearing a long yellow skirt, like a sarong (men wear them, too), but because of the six breasts on her chest.

"What?" "I caught a rat," He says excitedly. "Since when do you identify as a cat?" "You're going to love and hate this rat at the same time" "Now I'm curious. What type of rat are we talking about?" •••THE LIVING RAT••• The outside world was not as much as she expected. The television usually shows mostly streets with men wearing black suits, and black briefcases in their hands. With no expression the less she can see. The woman with a top round hat with pretty lace and some feather, with various colors of tops and skirts she could say seemingly they are comfortable wearing those. Some of them have fur around their neck, scarves.

Deep bite marks were gouged into the cylinder, causing its edges to curl. I pushed the door open, and a nauseating stench hit me. The bed was piled high with rotting, blackened meat, dripping entrails, and several gutted rats. Apart from that, a yellow fluid had also soaked through the bedding. The walls were also covered in bright red lipstick scrawls—"Harlot", "Tart", "Free Breeding Center". And next to the words were a few crude drawings. My roommate had already moved out, leaving only a note on her empty bed.

It struggled briefly as I placed it in the cage with the other one. Only to calm down when it noticed the other rat. As the rat moved over to the other, I watched intently to see what would happen. The previously infected rat just watched the other rat in boredom. That is until the uninfected rat moved within reaching distance. My eyes barely registered the speed of the rat as it attacked the other one. My shoulders sagged when I realized the rat wasn’t cured at all.

After taking a few bites of whatever is on my plate, I decide it is not worth getting food poisoning and stand. Two big guys are holding the slave by his arms, forcing him to look up while one of the females is dangling the biggest rat I have ever seen over his face. “Eat it!” she orders the slave. He shakes his head. The female takes out a dagger from her pocket and sticks it in the rat’s belly. It is clear the vampire needs food, and while rats are not something I would normally eat if I were in his situation, I would think of a big steak while I chewed.
