But deeper than that. A need to have her near, to protect that fire even as it burned me. To see if she could pull me out of the darkness Mirabella’s death had left me in. It was so easy to say I would kill her. After all, I’d killed Mirabella. Not with my hands, but with my choices. The enemies I’d made, the life I’d dragged her into. He gripped my shoulder forcefully placing me in a chokehold with a smile playing on his lips “You lied” I gritted my teeth glaring at him “Let me go,” I muttered as tears glistened in my eyes, staring at his crimson eyes. “Where's your civility?”I inquired as he gazed into my eyes. “Do you have any idea how powerful your enemies are?” His expression darkened low and dangerous, as if they were cutting through me.

We stood there, exhausted, staring at each other. “What now, Alpha?” I asked. Eli ran a hand through his hair. “Now we figure out why fate decided to screw us both.” I sank onto the edge of the bed. Every cut and bruise ached, I was healing but it was slow. The bond still pulled. Stronger than ever. This night had started with a simple heist.
