She snapped her fingers at me, as if not knowing him is a sin. "Is it required to know him?" I replied sarcastically, shrugged my shoulders, and continued wiping the window. "I can't believe you. And you're not even interested?" She shook her head in disbelief. "He's the most powerful and feared Alpha ever existed. But the problem is... He never got a mate because stories says all the women who became his mate died mysteriously. Some even say they were... Cursed," she added when she did not receive an answer from me. I faced her again. Her last words seemed to have caught my attention.

I stiffened. The older Alpha stepped fully into the courtyard, clasping his hands behind his back as his cold gaze swept over me. “To be honest,” he continued, “I was hesitant to say anything.” My stomach tightened instantly. “But after witnessing that…” He gestured vaguely toward the dissipating mist. “I believe it would be irresponsible not to.” The bond beneath my ribs pulsed uneasily. “What are you talking about?” I asked quietly. His face hardened. “My daughter’s wedding.” There it was.

The Alpha wasn't in support of it, but the luna promised to talk to him for me. I got to the Alpha's study and knocked on the door. "I don't want to talk to anyone " he shouted out. I opened the door and entered the study, that is very disorganized with everything laying and scattered everywhere. When I entered, he turned around and looked at me. I could see the anger and pain in his eyes. "I said get out. I don't want to talk to anyone. Don't you understand the word 'get out'? I don't want to repeat myself " he shouted.

"Why waste my breath? Did you expect me to cry over how I thought we were friends? Give me a break." Clyde is quiet for a moment, studying me. Then his smile widens, "I always did like that spunk about you. But it's not going to save your brother, and it's not going to save you from meeting the same fate as Teresa. Chris will raise his grandson to become the next Alpha, and once he's of age, then both you and Morris will be expendable." My claws are already slicing at the rope binding my wrists.

The final stretch awaited us, and with every beat of our hearts, we drew nearer to reuniting with our alpha and securing his freedom. Chapter 5 had reached its climax, our infiltration of the enemy's stronghold on the brink of success. Our unity and determination had brought us this far, and now, we stood ready to face whatever lay ahead. The pack's eyes met, a silent affirmation passing between us. I say quietly, “we end this before they push it further.” The man laughs softly. “End what, exactly? The pursuit? The bond? Or the war we haven’t even started yet?” His smile widens. “Chapter forty-three will be interesting, Alpha.” My blood freezes. He steps back. Into shadow. Into the place he came from. And just before he disappears— He says: “Don’t let her break.” Then they’re gone. All of them. As if the air swallowed them whole. Theressa sways behind me.

Inside lay a narrow roll of parchment tied with faded blue cloth. I untied it and spread it flat. The ink was old, the lines clean. “When the daughter returns to her fated Alpha, the blessing comes with a storm.” My eyes ran to the next lines. “If the trial is not met and the bond not steadied, doom falls on the Alpha’s house. One will break, one will bleed, and the packs will tear.” My hands shook. “If the calamity is not averted, one of the pair must die, and the packs will fall into chaos.”

I apologized to her, my eyes finding hers. She smirked. “Get over it? It’s easy for you to say.” “I had no idea Vanessa would be there that day, and I even went against my father many times because of you. I am sorry, Freya.” I explained to her, and for the first time that day, she raised her eyes to look at me. Freya’s POV: Did he just say he went against the Alpha because of me? I stared into his eyes. Something inside of me clicked that he was saying the truth. It was as if I could see through his mind and know whether he was saying the truth or not.
