LAUN'S POV. Who the fuck did this bitch think she was talking to? “Are you out of your mind?” I cursed her. Before I could utter another word my phone began to ring. “I have better things to attend to.” I grumbled loudly before leaving where I stood opposite her and walking over to the bed where I had dropped my phone. I leaned towards the bed and reached for my phone. It was my friend from the FBI. “Get out.” I ordered Vera. The last thing that I wanted was for her to listen to my conversation. I wasn't sure of who she was yet. I didn't know if she was on my side or she was just a spy for her selfish father.

SERAFINA. THE NEXT DAY. I could barely catch any sleep last night, thanks to this animated demon, staring back at me from the bar stool where Emilia was seated, sharing what seems more like gossip with Helen. The sound of their laughter grated against my nerves, sharp and persistent. It made my already boiling blood, rise with pressure.

Mel stood before the front door, hesitating for a moment. She knocked gently, but there was no response. To her surprise, the door was unlocked. Her curiosity got the better of her, and she entered cautiously,

“What are you talking about?” Joe said, reaching over to wipe my tears. Through the watery blur, I caught a glimpse of something unsettling in his eyes—an unhealthy obsession, a madness barely concealed. My hands clenched tightly behind me. How disgusting! Was he trying to replace my mother with me in his twisted mind? I quickly turned my head, taking a step back. “James loves Mia more than he loves me. If I marry him, how can I guarantee my children would have a father’s undivided love?”

"Eve, I'm sorry for missing our date. Regardless of my excuse, you must have waited a long, long time for me. That's my fault. To be honest, I knew it was you the moment you added me with your anonymous account. That's because I've seen you logging into that account in the library. "I was surprised when you asked me if I'd like to have that kind of video chat with you. It was hard to imagine you doing something like that because you seemed so well-behaved. I couldn't help but feel happy when I learned that I was the first person you asked to do it. I knew you weren't a girl who often found pleasure using such methods. You only did it to find out how I felt about you."

It gave him a huffing noise and clapped its teeth as if telling him how agitated and nervous it was upon tasting his blood, then roared at him with tremendous, deafening sounds in front of his face. Sage smelled its breath, and he now realised how it was rancid. "Fuck it, you smell like a dead, rotten rat, my boy. But take that blood of mine, taste it, and savour it." He murmured and stepped back with a knowing look. Sage knew his blood would help get the feral beast out of Tomas's mind. All he needed to do was wait and buy some time.

“That’s where they are, Chief—the missing ones. Streambed filled up, got dammed off below the line someplace, and filled with rainwater. They’re there: the other two. Under the water.” “Ah shit, no,” he said, dread sinking into his guts. He stared at her. “Who did this? Do you know who he is?” “No,” said Katie, shaking rancid droplets from her fingers. “But they did.” Palm Clemency staggered a bit, unsteady on his feet. “Shit . . . ” he murmured in that grim voice. He leaned against the tree in his dark blue Chief of Police jacket, shaken to his soul, looking as if the world as he knew it had come to an end. “Merciful God, it’s true. We’re cursed. All fucking cursed.”

But underneath it now, so faint it was almost not there, something different. Something that sounded, for the first time, like a man recalculating. “You are better than I expected,” Faust said. “My father was better than you expected too,” Elliot said. “You had him killed for it.” A pause. “I want to negotiate,” Faust said. Sera leaned forward toward the phone on the table.

Hades drag her to hell if she ever tries to reach out again. ★★★★ Jemi shut the door behind her, in seconds she heard Emma's slam closed, she winced then settled on the bed, face in her hands. for some minutes she had been happy, she had forgotten every discomfort that had plagued her and then one call just had to ruin it. She lay on the bed, trying to doze of but knowing at the back of her mind that it was going to be futile. Guilt and sadness jabbed her hard it felt like physical pain.

Lord Morel said in a thousand voices. “I as well,” replied Damien who looked at the head oracle, Pan Phineas. “`Till we meet again, Damien.
