Favorite Middle Grade Christmas Stories Novels & Stories

“Which one?” He stopped in his tracks. “You can write more than one at a time?” I nodded. “Hell, I can’t even read more than one book at a time!” “Some people are just gifted,” I said primly. “So, which one is your favorite novel?” Nate asked as we got to our seats. “Anything about werewolves,” Kimia answered for me. I smacked her shoulder. “Actually, I have a fun take on the Hansel and Gretl fairy tale that I’m working on. It’s from the witch’s point of view.” I pulled out my notebook.

Christmas was the reading of the book. This Christmas, Don's book was a novel—Norwegian, which was not a coincidence, a novel by the same writer whose essays were in the Norway reading programme. The novel was called The Dark Year, and it was about a man who spent a winter alone in a cabin in the far north of Norway, experiencing the full darkness for the first time. Don had been saving it since September, when he had finished the essays. He had placed it on the shelf above his desk, the designated holding place for the Christmas book, and had not opened it once.

Instead of the usual wishlist kids made for Christmas, they had to write all they were thankful for through the year. The grown-ups though sat on the armchairs, telling Christmas jokes because apparently, they knew Calvin was going to be Santa and well they were grown-ups. After sitting through another joke from Calvin, I moved to the floor, crawling closer to the kids so I could see how they were doing. In his letter, Aiden was thankful for all the presents he had gotten this year, and for moving on to the next grade at school and just below a list of things he still hadn't received yet. They included a pair of glasses like 'Aunt Celine's Friend', a hamster, a video game, a new bike and mos

He took a tentative sip of his cocoa and found it was the perfect temperature—not too hot, not too cold. “Oh, yes. There’s this fabulous shop downtown. They have the best Christmas decorations there, and so many treasures you won’t find anywhere else. I’d heard of it before I came to town. I used to run a similar shop, you see. Anyway, I went in today and had a look around and enjoyed myself so much, I asked the owner if she’d mind if I stick around a while, to help out. I was tickled when she said I could. It’s just one of those places that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, don’t you think?”

I'm sorry and I love you both so much. Love, Mom "Did you find the book?" Linda asks after Christina reads the note. I nodded. Christina folds the letter. "What was in it?" "It was a story. In that story, there are mythical creatures but there were no humans in it. Guardians, elves, werewolves, vampires, banshees, and even different realms." "Realms?"

he said, spreading his hands over the air like he was displaying something magnificent. “Big?” I said flatly. “That’s all you got?” He shrugged. Then after a moment he said, “Maybe it’s too on the nose, but what about Frosty the Snowman?” I chuckled. “Oh, so now you’re wanting to follow the rules. I thought you were going to say rabbit or turtle dove.” “Twelve days of Christmas!” he yelled excitedly. “Only if we want to be disqualified for not having an actual snowman,” I said, looking him right in the eye.

What kind of books? ― You sure don't want to know! ― Alice got in the way. ― College books are very expensive. A lot for my father to take on on his own. And you can't study medicine and work eight hours a day. So I write to earn my own money. ― But what do you write? Romance? Fantasy? Don't tell me it's terror? ― One hour I show you — the smile in the corner of her mouth remained on Manu's face as she drove. Something told me something those girls were up to.

“This is what he’s reading now.” Arabella made for the door. “Mom, please stay.” Arabella stayed. Axel was in the middle as the two of them laid on the sides of the bed. Then Axel went on to flip through the pages, choosing the story he wanted to hear. He took his time. More time than he usually did. Like he already knew which one he wanted to hear. A story about little Chad and his small family. He paused briefly, then read the last line quietly— “And that night, Chad fell asleep between them, thinking it was the happiest day ever… because his mom and dad were both right there with him.”

I curled up with Chris in his bed as we watched a movie. He’s been worried about me over the past week, which I feel bad about. I hate worrying everyone. Chris surprised me with a home-cooked dinner and a movie; A Journey Back to Christmas, my favorite Christmas movie ever. I sighed as we watched, “What’s wrong?” Chris asked; I shook my head, but Chris was not about to take that for an answer. He paused the movie and straightened up, waiting for me to talk to him.

It's the Christmas season! The days are short, nights are long, showers go longer. There are so many things I love about winter. I love making hot Belgian chocolate and those little marshmallows, I love snuggling up on the couch with a book in my thick robe and furry shoes, a doona draped over me. I love the food associated with winter: soups, casseroles, roasts. I'll be spending my first Christmas in London, and Amelia has invited Edmund and me over to their place for lunch Christmas Eve. I cannot wait to have my first proper winter Christmas. I just hope Edmund can make it. I'm sure that work will die down by then and I can have some quality time with him, the fun Edmund I haven't seen too
