Silvyr slid off the windowsill, ran barefoot to the window, and pressed her face against the glass. "Snowfeather! Snowfeather's back!"
Silas looked out the window. The sky over the North was very low, clouds pressing down on the mountain ridge. The same as three hundred years ago, yet not the same. He pressed his palm against the glass. The lily-of-the-valley mark cast a small patch of light on the windowpane, landing right on the pine bough where the Snowfeather perched. The bird looked down at the spot of light, cocked its head, spread its wings, and flew north.
