Feathers So Vicious Book 2 Novels & Stories

I whispered, my voice laced with venom. Julian stopped half an inch from my toes, towering over me in the dim light, his presence casting a heavy, suffocating shadow over my body. He reached out, his long, calloused fingers catching the hem of my ruined, blood-stained silk shirt, pulling the fabric taut. "Good," he whispered, leaning down until his lips hovered bare millimeters above mine, his hot breath fanning across my skin. "Because the door stays locked from the outside. Wash the blood off your skin, Evelyn. The bed is waiting."

My thick skin and feathers could not prevent the heart piercing pain I felt through my entire body. My body was crushing under the grip of the thorney tendrils. The black magic users started to advance towards the phoenix shifter. If they succeeded to take her feathers then it was going to end up being a disaster. Defeating them will be impossible if a single feather falls in thei hand. "As the Alpha, I have to protect the pack and maintain order. She chose to betray us and frame another. You're lucky she's not dead!" Feina's mother's eyes narrowed, and a cold, menacing smile crept onto her lips. "We'll see how strong and capable you really are, Alpha Chase," she sneered. Without further warning, they lunged at me with surprising speed and aggression. I dodged their initial attacks, but they were relentless, working in unison to overwhelm me. Feina's father, fueled by his anger, swung his claws wildly, while her mother moved with calculated precision, trying to find an opening in my defense.

I take in every inch of her, from the tiny scar near her brow to the way her fingers twitch, dreaming. I long to touch her, to confirm this isn’t a cruel dream. Slowly, cautiously, I push back a stray strand of her hair, a silken thread of midnight, and she immediately reacts. Her eyes flutter open, and in their depths, I see a whole history of fear and survival. IVORY’S POV

Vesper hesitated for only a heartbeat before stepping into the light. The sun’s rays lashed at her like molten blades. Her wings smoked, the delicate membranes burning away, and her flesh blistered and cracked. Pain surged within her like a constant companion, but she didn’t falter. Each step forward was fueled by the image of Qillalon’s face and the bond they shared. She roared in ache. Her face smokes as it burns her, but she moves forward, searching for her mate. The Flatlands stretched endlessly, their barren surface offering no cover. The armored vehicle stood at the center, a metal leviathan gleaming under the merciless sun. Hunters milled about, their weapons at the ready, while the H

Despicable, they all were and yet they called themselves alphas. A bloodcurdling roar echoed from in front and a shiver wracked down Verya’s spine as she drew for her swords. There was no mistaking it, this was the beast, and it was thirsty, thirsty for blood. She could hear flopping sounds and she knew instantly that it came from its wings. She regretted leaving in a hurry now because she left her bag, and her arrows and her bow were right inside of it. F*ck! “The beast! It’s here! It’s here!”

AXEL It seems something feral has been awakened in me. There was already one, but now another has been added. I couldn't explain it. Something just seemed to snap, and before I knew it I was slamming into Rosette’s throat without care, and all I could think about as I did so was, “Mine! Mine! Mine!” The beast in me has claimed her. It has accepted her like I did, but it was scary because that part of me didn't know how to be gentle, how to be human, or how to love her gently.

Killian muttered, gripping his staff, and we stepped through, the bond a lifeline as the world dissolved. --- The city hit us like a fever dream. We landed on a street of black stone, smooth as glass, its edges glowing with veins of light that pulsed in time with the dagger. Spires towered above, not stone but crystal, shifting colors—red, blue, violet—like they were alive. The air was warm, thick, scented with something sharp, not flowers but metal, blood. Figures moved in the distance—not human, not pack, but something in between, their forms fluid, their eyes glowing, watching us without approaching.

Victor's warriors were beginning to falter, their movements slowing as their strength waned. And then, in a flash of inspiration, I saw my chance. With a fierce cry, I launched myself at Victor, my claws flashing in the sunlight. Victor tried to defend himself, but I was too fast, too strong. My claws tore through his defenses, striking true with deadly precision, as my fangs sank into his flesh, releasing their deadly Venom. He lay there frozen, unable to move, as I ripped him apart, each time I reminded myself of what he could have done to my baby, had we not got to her in time.

The feather was defending its new host. "You stupid, arrogant girl," Silas spat, wiping a smear of silver blood from his lip. "You’ve hitched your life to a dying rogue. When the forge finishes with him, it will start on you. You’ll be hollowed out before the sun sets." "Then you’d better move fast," I rasped. My lungs felt like they were filling with liquid lead. "Because I’m the only map you have left." Kael scrambled toward me, his hands reaching out, trembling. He looked at the spot on my chest where the feather had vanished. The skin there was puckered and red, glowing with a rhythmic, angry light.
