Till Death Do Us Lie
“So familiar, like I knew it. That shadow, the rage and hatred I felt from him.”
“Some dreams are like that.” Another lie, but this time it feels harder to speak, as if I’m tired of lying to her again and again.
She places a hand to her head and sighs. “It felt so real. Like a memory…. A memory.” She seems to be thinking something, then she frowns, but she looks exhausted. The fever is taking its toll. I wonder if it's even her speaking or if it’s the fever.
“Well, the main thing is, it’s not real. You’re here with me, right here,” I say, brushing a few stray strands from her face before she can even protest. “Get some rest.”
