I inched forward, wincing as a loose stone betrayed my step.
"Honestly, Luna," Cielo sighed dramatically, dropping down from the branch beside me. She loomed over me, her height and strength accentuated by the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves. Up close, the amusement in her eyes was tinged with a flicker of something… else. She reached out, brushing a stray leaf from my hair with a surprising gentleness that sent a jolt through me.
"You're as graceful as a newborn foal," she finally said, her voice softer now. "But at least foals eventually learn to walk."
