There were fiction novels; thrillers, mysteries and crime novels. I blinked. Apparently, I enjoyed those. "I don't remember reading any of these."

They spoke of spirits, of ancient forces that resided within the trees, but these were merely stories — tales meant to keep children close to home, out of the dark places of the woods. But that all changed when the Terrell State Hospital was built, a sprawling, ominous facility meant for the mentally ill, many of whom had been deemed ‘too dangerous’ or ‘too strange’ by society. The hospital sat on the outskirts of town, right next to the woods, and though no one could have predicted it, the convergence of these two worlds — the twisted human suffering and the ancient, untouched land — awakened something that had long been dormant.

After understanding what had happened, they found that there was a crack in one of the walls at the mental hospital that was being renovated recently. However, due to the continuous heavy rain, it was hard for renovation works to proceed as planned. Hence, due to the renovation being on hold, there was a gap in the wall. The security in the mental hospital towards each patient was very strict, so no one would ever have thought that someone would manage to escape the facility, let alone a cripple.

Satisfied that romance was no longer forcing itself into the focus, I could work on the plot points of each book. My MC is a smart ass mom (like me) with a mental illness (like me, specifically we both have a dissociative disorder,) and my villain is a smart ass femme fatale who knows how to get around her obstacles and NOT talk about her schemes. This book will hopefully represent mental illness in a way that those without can understand.
