We talked for hours as the night wore on. “You really thought about quitting because of burnout?” I asked, tracing a finger along his chest. “Yeah. Days blurred together. Then you started coming in regularly. Made me look forward to shifts again.” He smiled in the low light. “What about you? Why history?” “I like stories that last,” I said. “People who lived real lives hundreds of years ago. Makes my problems feel small.” We laughed softly. Then the touching started again. This time I climbed on top, riding him slow while we kept talking. He looked up at me like I was something special. His hands roamed my body, squeezing my breasts, guiding my hips.

I consoled him and gave him some water. “She locked me up in the store room” “WHAT? IN THE STOOR ROOM? HOW DID YOU COME HERE! Tell me everything.” I questioned. “I was locked inside since morning and when she opened me up, I ran and hid here. She warned me that she’ll lock me again if I told this to anyone.” I stood up and as I went forward Zac held my leg and started to cry. “Please don’t go. I don’t want to get locked please.”

Anya's P.O.V. "Are we ready to ride, ladies?" I ask the gang as we all start up our engines. We're an all-female biker gang of bunnies. Yes, I said bunnies, and I'm not talking about Playboy bunnies or Easter bunnies. We're bunny shifters, and we're all in our twenties. Our gang has dwindled in numbers because some of the women have found their mates, but there are still about twenty of us.

“Read! Read now, Daddy!” Before I could answer, Elena walked in, her presence filling the room like a quiet shadow. She carried one of Arya’s favorite books , a worn fairy tale collection with creased pages and a cover nearly falling apart from overuse. Elena didn’t look at me as she handed Arya the book. “Which story tonight?” “The dragon one!” Arya declared proudly. “The one where the princess saves the knight.” I chuckled. “Of course. The dragon one.”

In as much as I'm ready to protect my son, I don't know how to wipe down that one incident down. It was in a small community center just across town. Rows and rows of books filled the room. Derrick was immediately lost between shelves, holding up colorful titles with wide eyes. "Mom! Aunt Lila! Look! Dinosaurs and Space Explorers in one book!" "Get it," Ava laughed, grabbing it for him. "And maybe this one too? It's about wolves." "Like the ones in your stories?" he asked. She nodded. "Exactly." Derrick shrugged, already marching toward the fantasy book section like he owned the place. "Books are my best friends. They don't yell. They don't lie. They just tell stories."

There were piles of books on her table, and there was a request for more books that she had drafted out. “My lady, let us leave.” Liora begged, following behind me impatiently. I checked through some of her books, and they were mostly fiction. My eyes caught a particular book under a pile of books, and I reached for it instantly. “My lady, you're going to get me killed.” Liora groaned as I picked up the book. “THE ADVENTURES OF LADY KILMARTIN.” I read out loud. “Huh?” Liora mumbled.

Little did I know, the spark was about to become a raging inferno, courtesy of something far beyond the mortal realm. It started on a rainy Friday night. I’d come home exhausted from a long week, my blouse clinging to my skin from the downpour outside. I kicked off my heels, letting them thud against the hardwood floor, and poured myself a glass of merlot. The apartment felt emptier than usual; my last girlfriend had left months ago, citing my “workaholic tendencies” as the reason. Truth be told, I missed the warmth of a body next to mine, the soft curves and whispered promises in the dark. Before there were doors between worlds, there were stories. They whispered from hearth to hearth and ship to ship— of wolves that ran like midnight wind, of foxes with nine tails and nine more tricks beyond that, of fae who looked like carved moonlight and smiled like knives. Humans loved those stories—as long as they stayed in books and bedtime. The moment a story breathed, the moment a pair of eyes glinted from a tree line or a shadow stepped out of the corner of a room, humans did what humans do best when they’re afraid.

Rhae slowly walked towards the bookshelf off to the side of the room and began skimming the titles. "Tales of Fae," Aynyra grinned, crossing her legs in the bed like a toddler. Rhae pulled the book off the shelf, examining the repeatedly broken spine and the clear wear and tear on the cloth-covered binding. "A children's book?" Rhae questioned peering at the title. Aynyra chuckled, "It's not a children's book, it's based on history. It's fact." Rhae walked over to the bed laughing, "It's myth Aynyra, don't tell me you believe in the Fae."
