So I decide to better jump and die than to be rape by a creepy stalker.

"Up," Killian's voice cut through the fog. I caught myself. Grabbed the edges of the stool with both hands. I looked at him through the glare. He stared back, unblinking. Four hours. My body made the decision without my permission. I fell. I hit the concrete floor hard, my shoulder and hip taking the impact. I curled up on the cold floor and closed my eyes against the glare.

I got up again and tried walking, but as soon as I got to my feet, a piercing pain made me groan in agony. “Need any help?” Leo smirked. I shook my head and leaned to the wall for support, standing on my toes, intending to stop them from being inflicted with further damage. I was so emotional earlier that I did not care about the consequences of my actions. I mean, what if it was Dylan that walked into that room? My tactic was working, but my toes ached. As soon as I reached the bottom of the staircase, I collapsed again. I let out a string of curse words, but stopped when I heard Leo chuckle.

Push. I feel a shove. I fall, losing my footing. Alex catches me mid-air, wraps me tight, and we crash down the stairs together. Roll. Hit. Scratch. Thud.

I roll for what feels like a year, tumbling down into a little valley that seems to have appeared out of nowhere. For a second, I honestly think I might’ve died, I’m that overstimulated. The rain’s coming down so hard, it’s basically waterboarding me. The fall was way more dramatic and embarrassing than I will ever admit to another human being, and somewhere along the way my gym shorts ripped. Not a small rip either. The back is basically gone, leaving my ass completely exposed to the elements.

The heel caught. I didn't fall forward—I had enough instinct to redirect the fall, but it went sideways instead, and then I was going down, the railing not close enough to grab in time, and I hit the second stair and the third and the landing at the base of the next flight with the specific, full-body impact of a fall that had too much momentum to soften. Six stairs. Maybe seven. I stopped moving.

I land a solid punch square on his face. Before we know it, he's flying through the air like a ragdoll. CRASH! He bursts through the second-floor window, and shattered glass rains down like shards of ice. I don't hesitate, leaping after him as we both soar through the air like superheroes. Our hair whips around wildly as gravity pulls us back to earth. As we fall, I keep pummeling him, my fists colliding with his face with ferocious force, each impact echoing like thunder. Finally, we hit the ground with a deafening THUD!
