Melissa’s POV Falling does not feel like falling. It feels like being unhooked. Like something that anchored you to gravity simply decided you were no longer eligible. The street disappeared beneath us in sheets of tearing light. Layers of buildings, dust, sky and everything peeled apart like stacked transparencies sliding out of alignment. Jamal’s hand was locked around mine. Zara’s fingers caught my jacket just before we dropped into complete darkness. There was no wind. No rush of air. Just pressure.

Her eyes went crimson as the pain flooded over her. She realized she had to flee from him as quickly as possible. Her instincts shouted for safety, pushing her to keep a safe distance from him. She noticed that the lift was not moving when she looked at the floor number. “Why…. why is this lift not moving”

Falling should have meant silence. Instead, it came with his name tearing from my throat and the terrifying certainty that the man reaching for me might no longer belong to the world I knew. --- I was falling. Not slipping. Not stumbling. Falling clean and endless, like gravity itself had decided to make an example of me. The wind tore the scream from my lungs as the penthouse lights vanished above, replaced by darkness streaked with broken glass and city glow far below. My arms flailed uselessly, grasping for anything anyone.

He quipped, trying to lighten up her mood. "Well, the falling isn't the part I'm scared of," she continued, looking deep into his eyes. "It's the impact, and not knowing what happens next. It's just that I... I always end up having an entirely different dream sequence after the fall." She whispered, sounding grim and uncertain. "You know those really good dreams... and they end up bleak, like almost a nightmare? It's kind of like that, it's really frustrating - and scary."

Vanessa hung her head and turned around, heading to the road where she would stop a taxi and head home. When Vanessa got home, there was a note stuck to her front door. When she saw the handwriting on the note, she ripped it off her door and tore it apart, without even bothering to read the actual content. She already knew who wrote her the note and she did not want to read it because she knew it would only make her feel worse. Her landlord, all about his rent, threatening to send her packing. Vanessa sighed.

I could make out through my blurry focus that Scarlet was trying to drag herself towards me, telling me something but I couldn't hear her. I could hear the things falling, falling into pieces. I could feel my roof collapsing, and that's when I lifted my eyes above. The ceiling that was over our basement, crumbled and I watched it fall, Fall on us in slow motion. And I watched it fall, transfixed by it all. Because I knew that I couldn't do anything anymore. I welcomed the pain that came when the ceiling covered me beneath it, taking my breath away. ***********************************************************************************************

Erra was on the floor, scrubbing, while Narrah was dusting the displays. Narrah tried to reach the upper part of the shelf by climbing when she suddenly lost her balance. She tried to grab anything to keep her steady, her hands swiping all the sculptures displayed. Together with all the displays, Narrah fell. "Erra...!" she exclaimed in a panic waiting for the pain from her fall. She tightly closed her eyes, bracing herself but it's been a while but she still hasn't reached the bottom.

The iron lever that had killed someone before started to move winding backward with a lot of tension. The countdown was inside the machine now and the press was getting ready to eject the sector from the mainframe. "Elara!" Julian shouted through the storm. "The anchor is slipping! The building is losing its place! We're falling out of the world!" The skyscrapers outside were moving, sliding across the horizon like a train car. The horizon was tilting. The sky was turning upside down.

I wasn’t ready to talk about that particular day but knowing Cass she wasn't about to let it go. “It wasn’t an accident” I simply said, staring at my hands. “It wasn’t? I can never forget that day as long as I live. You were coming towards us in the cafeteria with your tray and then you slipped and fell. Everyone else started laughing until they realized you weren’t getting up. Oh god! When we rushed to where you were there was so much blood, I have never seen that much blood my entire life. We knelt beside you and Liam screamed for someone to get the nurse. He looked crazed when he pushed Trevor aside and knelt beside you.” Cass whispered before continuing, the horror of that day still etch

It was enough that I could slip a claw through and slice the barrier up through the middle. I was immediately falling from the sky. I imagined a soft pillow catching me, uncertain if that exercise would work. I closed my eyes, fearing the worst as I dropped hard to the ground. Surrounding me was the fluffiest pillow that took the brunt of my fall. I laid there for a second, catching my breath.
