Fighting Scene Writing Novels & Stories

There was no need to drag her into it. Reaching into my backpack again, I get out my notebook, hoping for inspiration to strike as strongly as it did all those years ago. It takes a while, but it does, and I outline the next three chapters, seamlessly putting in a sword-fighting scene for Charles’s sake—that totally fits with the story. Usually, I don’t like to write longhand what I then have to go back and type, but the fight scene is so clear in my head I start writing it out—and then can’t stop.

Then she yanked her arm back and said, low enough that only I could hear: “You really want to do this here.” “Yes,” I said. Out loud. “Actually.” I took the beanie out of her other hand. She grabbed for it back. I don’t remember deciding to scream. I just did. And then I lunged. What followed was not clean or quiet or anything like the confrontation I’d been playing out in my head since September. Her nails caught my cheek, a fast bright sting. My hand found a fistful of her hair and I pulled with everything I had, all of it, all the months of it, and Tahni Haughton screamed.

He screamed, “Give it back, you evil-doer! Those are very important medical supplies!” “Oh, my God!” Mia exclaimed in the car. “I hope this works!” “It’s gotta work!” Frank said, crossing his fingers. Charlie’s heart was racing. She watched as Maxwell caught up with Ross, then the next best scene happened. Taylor and Chandler, still clad in their villain disguises, suddenly appeared before Maxwell. A fight ensued. Going head to head against three tall and muscular men, it had to be believable, so Maxwell took a few punches for realism’s sake.

Ramon said, and I felt Rona's power washing over me, erasing every doubt I had before stepping into the ring. Ramon left the ring, took a fire torch, and lit the ring on fire around Nejla and me. The crowd backed away with fear in their eyes, and Ramon signaled for us to start the fight. Nejla started spinning before me, and I felt Rona gather her forces, preparing to combat her if she came over us. We turned around in circles until Nejla took the first move and came toward me with all her strength. I managed to jump out of her way, and she plummeted over the ground beside me.

My heart beating out of my chest, I have no energy to get off her, yet alone move. I try to move off her but I fall to the ground tired, breathless and my heart racing... I charged forward, my heart racing with adrenaline, as Augustus’s men emerged from the trees like a dark, menacing tide. The air was thick with the smell of blood and sweat, and the sound of growling and snapping filled my ears. “Freddie, get behind me!” I yelled, my voice barely audible over the din of the battle. Freddie nodded, his eyes blazing with determination, as he fought off two of Augustus’s men at once. His fur was matted with blood, and his chest heaved with exhaustion, but he refused to back down.

Khalid’s eyes blazed with a mix of resolve and frustration, mirroring my own conflicted emotions. Without a word, he lunged forward, the moon sword gleaming as it sliced through the air. Instinct kicked in, and I parried his strike with my weapon, the clash of metal against metal ringing out through the night. The moon’s eerie glow illuminated our duel, casting long shadows that danced like specters around us. With a powerful shove, we broke apart, each of us circling warily. The forest floor crunched beneath our feet, the underbrush a maze of obstacles that added an unpredictable element to our fight.
