Victoria’s face twisted in rage, her cold eyes narrowing as she adjusted her aim. Sophia snapped into action, adrenaline flooding her veins. She raised her gun, her hands steady, and fired. The shot went wide, but it was enough to force Victoria back, to buy them a precious moment. Ethan seized the opportunity, moving with the speed and precision of a predator. He tackled Victoria, their bodies crashing to the ground in a tangle of limbs. The gun clattered away, sliding across the concrete floor, lost in the shadows.

His silver-gray wolf is leaner but agile, his muscles taut with purpose. The duel begins with a bray of snarls. Antonio charges, a juggernaut of claws and fangs, shaking the ground as he thumps into the fray. Tatum dodges, quick and precise, his jaws snapping at Antonio’s flanks. The crowd gasps as blood sprays—Antonio’s claws rake Tatum’s shoulder.

We locked eyes for a split second, a silent agreement passing between us. We both nodded, accepting the unspoken plan, and then turned back to the battle, fighting side by side to fend off the advancing wolves. My energy was dwindling, each movement becoming more laborious as I continued to kick, punch, and slash. The blood from them splattered across my face and dripped down my body, mixing with the sweat of anger. I showed no mercy to anyone who came within reach. I focused on their muscles and tendons, methodically targeting the joints that allowed them to stand, walk, or move.

The mark of the writer. "Why are you doing that?" Bryan asked. "Because they want a fight," I said. I stood up and looked him in the eyes. "And I'm going to show them exactly what happens when you try to script my life." I looked toward the door. The man in the suit was standing there now. He wasn't hiding anymore. This scene has been cut."

A figure moved through the shadows. Fast. Almost invisible. One attacker was struck from behind. Another was disarmed. A third crashed into the wall. The lights suddenly came back on. Lucas stood in the middle of the room. His expression was cold. Victor stared at him. “You.” Lucas looked around. “Were you expecting someone else?” Victor raised his weapon. Lucas fired first. Victor ducked. The bullet struck the wall. “GET HIM!” The men charged. Lucas moved.

Writer's POV Derek beamed with smile as he unsheathed his sword, tossing the empty scabbard aside with a flourish. Rufus, or perhaps Alpha Nikias, mirrored his actions, struggling to maintain his composure. "May the best man win," Derek taunted, stepping back to create some distance. The crowd was captivated, their eyes filled with anticipation. Whispers and cheers rippled through the air... In an instant, Derek lunged at Rufus, but Rufus dodged just in time, gaining the upper hand and delivering a swift kick to Derek's ribs.

Khalid’s eyes blazed with a mix of resolve and frustration, mirroring my own conflicted emotions. Without a word, he lunged forward, the moon sword gleaming as it sliced through the air. Instinct kicked in, and I parried his strike with my weapon, the clash of metal against metal ringing out through the night. The moon’s eerie glow illuminated our duel, casting long shadows that danced like specters around us. With a powerful shove, we broke apart, each of us circling warily. Iris was shivering as a sharp, bone-chilling howl sliced through the darkness. She drew back and muttered, "Aiden." "That was." "Damon," he said sadly, looking around the jungle. He's near. Too near. Scene Three Wolves frantically prepared for a fight as the packhouse exploded in turmoil. Weapons were gathered, orders were yelled, and tension was high. Aiden blocked Iris's path, and she stood beside the entrance, her fists clenched. "You won't come," he stated firmly. She retorted, her eyes flaming, "Yes, I am."

There was no need to drag her into it. Reaching into my backpack again, I get out my notebook, hoping for inspiration to strike as strongly as it did all those years ago. It takes a while, but it does, and I outline the next three chapters, seamlessly putting in a sword-fighting scene for Charles’s sake—that totally fits with the story. Usually, I don’t like to write longhand what I then have to go back and type, but the fight scene is so clear in my head I start writing it out—and then can’t stop.
