Edira's Pov
My name is Edira Vatroslava, and I am twenty-one years old and a hybrid.Which means that I am a witch and part wolf. My mom's family comes from a solid and old, pure bloodline of witches who can manage the fire element. We can do other spells as well, but the fire element is our base ground. My wolf's name is Aesira; she has red fur and is really fucking cool.Since I am a hybrid, she came through to me the first time I turned fifteen. Typically, your inner wolf would contact you around your tenth birthday. We did our first shapeshift around my 18th birthday, which was more painful than it would be for a full-breaded werewolf. It took me a few months to perfect the shifting, but it was worth the pain. My mom, Juliana, was shot in a cold-blooded murder when I was seven.A big witch hunt occurred fourteen years ago, where most witches were ordered to be shot on sight by the big five Alphas and the vampire king. Mom and I ran through the forest by Marise's pack border, followed by vampire hunters sent out by the vampire king, Orobas. My mom hid me in a small cave a mile from Marise's pack border, then ran off. But she never returned to get me. I wandered around, looking for her after an eternity of waiting.Sadly I found my mom in a pile of blood. She was dead, and I was terrified. I fell to my knees and tried to wake her up with tears running down my face, crying.Marise had heard my cries, and she ran up to me and took me with her back to her family. She told her parents what she saw in the forest, and her mom, Ana, convinced her father that she would live with them now. Later in life, Ana told me that she had a dream a week before Marise brought me to them, and in that dream, a woman said to her that a child would come and she needed protection. I never knew my father. He left my mom before she even knew she was pregnant. She believed that he found his one true mate and then forgot about her. Mom never spoke of him, so I never knew who he was or what he looked like. My grandma was furious when my mom told her about being pregnant, especially since she had been with a "dirty dog."She told my mom that she was now a disgrace to her own kind and wanted me to be aborted or my mom to leave and never return. She was banished from her family if she decided to go through and birth me.Mom chose me and never looked back.God, my grandma really sounds like a bitter b*tch! So, I practically grew up with Marise and her mom since her dad was murdered twelve years ago. It was good the first years. But then Orfeo happened, and it all came crashing down on us.It was a super hard time for all of us, significantly since I couldn't interfere without hurting Marise in the process.Fuck, how I hated his disgusting behavior, and I hated his family too. They are power-hungry, selfish, and disgusting people. They should not be in control and rule over a pack; they don't have the right qualities to do so.Marise and I went to school here on the pack grounds. Since we had a huge pack, we could manage our own education. Werewolves' style. This Orfeo made to his advantage, and he would hang around the school ground and wait for Marise most of the day we were in school.I can't believe his family could let him behave this way.Everyone talked behind their backs about how he acted with her.A lot of the girls were even jealous. It's Disgusting!I didn't have any friends except for Marise, no one wanted to be friends with the hybrid, and when Orfeo's obsession escalated, I was considerably left alone. He never wanted me around Marise because he saw that I affected her well. So, I took the time to study and practice my magic, casting spells and brewing potions. I had a hideout in the cave my mom hid me in as a child, where I spent much time doing this. I returned to that cave when I was thirteen, and when I did, I found a spellbook with my family heirloom engraved to it. It appeared in front of me out of nothing, and I could feel closer to my mom when it did. She must have known and hidden it there with magic, and I was the only one it would be shown to. I was a natural, and I learned a lot of cool spells. The night when Orfeo forced marked Marise was the breaking point for us.Ana and I started planning for me and Marise to escape and leave the pack to save Marise. If we didn't go before Marise's 18th birthday and Orfeo marked her again, she would be forced to stay with him against her free will. She would be tied to him. Forever. We could not let that happen to her.-Ricco's Pov-Thanks to Baldo's protective spell, two days had slipped in a haze since we had barely managed to fend off the Hellhounds. The air was thick with tension, and now, at long last, Edira brought news about Marise's elusive whereabouts—though pursuing her felt more like chasing a phantom through the mist. She was flitting across Scandinavia like a wisp of smoke, dancing just out of reach, leaving only fleeting whispers of her presence.I found myself deep in the Norwegian woods' heart, where Edira had last seen her. The towering pines whispered secrets overhead, their dark trunks standing sentinel around us. Carlo and Milo trailed closely behind, their faces etched with a fierce determination that mirrored the gravity of our mission. We were focused and resolute: track down Marise and unravel the enigmatic web of her erratic movements. Yet, a gnawing confusion tugged at my mind—had she truly escaped, or was this an elaborate snare laid just for us? Each step forward felt unc
Juliana's Pov I cast a defense spell, which created a temporary opening through the shield, but we had to be quick before it closed again. "This way," I shouted as we entered the building where she was held. I let my force of energy freeze every guard in our way, and we rushed up the stairs to the second floor. "Grab her, Valentino!" I screamed once I kicked open the door, turned, and threw a defense spell at the witch and a colossal werewolf coming down the hallway. I already knew they would come, and we would make it out, but I would be drained for days after this rescue mission. Valentino had the girl in his arms, and we exited the building and zoomed out of the shield, running the fastest we ever had before. This was it; now we had to keep running until we reached the highest point in the northern parts of Norway, and it was a long run ahead of us. Ricco's Pov The hellhounds were on our trail, and I had never felt this much adrenaline rush through my system. They wer
Edira's Pov "What do you mean we have to warn Ricco? What's going on? Did you have a vision?" Baldo asked, and I nodded. "Yes, I did. I saw Ricco getting hurt, and it did not end well!" I replied, and Baldo gulped. "This will not end well, Edira. I can feel it. With Ramon and Ricco gone, the pack will face a dark future ahead." Baldo sighed. "I need to warn Ricco, Baldo." I replied, and I closed my eyes and put all my energy into connecting Ricco. My body was trembling, and I repeated the words repeatedly, determining for him to hear me. Baldo placed his hands above my arms, channeling his energy with mine. Ricco's Pov We had been running over these mountains for days, and it was getting harder to get ahead. More wolves were sent out to take us down, and the battles grew more challenging. I had a hunch that something was coming at us, something dark. I wanted to save Marise but knew I might need Edira to help us find the Black Shadow Pack's hiding and take down whatever w
Ramon's Pov. "Make it stop!" I growled to Edira when I felt my neck burn like it was set on fire. I had been tortured ever since Marise was taken, and it was getting insufferable. My body was weakened, leaving me vulnerable. And if it came out that the Alpha of the El Eclipse de Luna pack is weak, and his brother wasn't there to protect him in the presence... It would not end well. I saw Edira freeze in the movement, and the feeling of something warm was dripping down my neck. "I don't understand," Edira mumbled, her eyes fixated on my neck. Baldo frowned, and it looked like something clicked for him. "Mirrored pain...." Baldo mumbled, "What does that mean?" I growled at him, feeling the neck of my skin being torn off me. "I can't describe in detail for the moment, but I think it means that a mated pair will experience the same physical pain through a dark spell, but I don't know how it works in practice." Baldo stammered. Edira's Pov. Mirrored pain... If that was the cause,
Edira's Pov "There must be something we are missing here," I mused, glancing over the ocean. I could see Baldo nod and sigh in the corner of my eye. Marise had been gone for weeks, and my hope sank daily. I felt like the biggest failure. How could this happen? We were so careful. I finally thought everything was going to be okay."It's not your fault, you know. Stop blaming yourself." Baldo mumbled, and I felt his hand on my arm. "I know that in my heart, but my mind tells me otherwise... I was so close to getting to her... But I just let her slip away. I don't understand how he got her. Marise would never run to him willingly." Baldo's eyes narrowed, and then he stood up quickly, "There is one spell that can let you take over other beings' will and power, but only a powerful witch could do that. And it would require the use and knowledge of black magic." Baldo clenched his jaw, and I felt my heart drop. "So Orfeo must have had a witch with him? And knowing Orfeo... It ca
3 days since Marise was taken - Edira's Pov. The days passed by with no trace of Marise. Ricco had left the pack with two trackers, hoping to find clues to where she was being taken. Since Ramon could not rule the pack in his condition, Ricco left Delta Rafaela in charge. Ramon was locked inside his bedroom due to his wrestling pain. The pain increased and was getting worse with every passing day. His whines shook the pack's ground, and the wolves ran with their tails lowered as their Alpha's pain weighed down their souls. But this also meant that Marise was in the same pain. I felt the tears streaming down my cheeks at the thought of Marise in the hands of that monster. Our worst fear had become our reality. Baldo and I tried to find a way to help Ramon, but we were stuck. No spell we had tried had helped him, and I feared that this was something that couldn't be stopped easily. Baldo introduced me to Niebla during this time. She was a very remarkable little woman. Her d
