The Fire That Chose Me
The creature towered above them, its body shifting like smoke, its eyes glowing a sickly green.
“You want me?” Evelynn whispered, her voice breaking. “Then you’ll have to take all of me.”
The fire erupted outward—not wild, not uncontrolled, but guided. Her flames twined around Aiden’s wolf form like armor, wrapping him in golden light. He growled low, a sound of approval, before they both turned to face the beast.
Together.
Evelynn thrust her arms forward, fire lashing like a whip. Aiden lunged beside it, his claws tearing, his teeth sinking deep. Fire and fang struck as one. The monster shrieked, stumbling back, its shadowy form fracturing under the combined assault.
