Lyra stirred—sharp, restless, clawing at the edges. Heat roared up my arm like lightning trapped under skin, crackling, clawing its way out before I could hold it down. “Amelia—stop.” Ryder moved toward me. But I couldn’t. It was already breaking loose. My arm snapped forward, and fire flared along the staff. A burst of force tore through the air. Ryder twisted just in time, catching it on his forearm. Smoke curled in the air, tinged with the awful scent of scorched flesh.

The courtyard became a furnace, the broken pillars catching fire as though soaked in oil. Maxim’s beast roared inside him, pressing against bone, demanding release. For a moment, he let it. His form shifted, muscles straining, claws gleaming dark with ash. The fire didn’t scorch him; it licked his skin like an old rival daring him to step closer. He launched himself at Ruby. She met him head-on, flames curling into a blade. When his claws struck, sparks burst like a storm of stars. Heat blistered the ground beneath their clash. She laughed through the madness, pressing forward with a strength that wasn’t hers, not entirely.

shouted Frederik. "Give it up!" Mustering everything she could, Ruby twisted her body and sank her teeth into Carren's wrist. A small cry escaped Carren's lips, but Ruby got close to Jay. Their sweet gazes met. Jay's eyelids were almost closed when they opened wide at the thud of Ruby's body falling beside him. Jay could see Carren wrapped her wings around Ruby's body, her eyes dark. Ruby's fireballs tore Carren's wings off, then made to strangle the owner. "Fuck!!!" Carren's hoarse, coughing voice was like lightning striking Jay's ears. Eager for revenge, Carren strangled Ruby.

From my angle I couldn’t see Rayne’s face but then I saw Rayne’s body start to be consumed by flames and worry struck me not knowing if she was doing this or if something was wrong. “Rayne.” I said calling to her in our link and she looked my way, and her eyes were burning flames just like mine are. She then turned towards the targets with the flames around her starting to move towards her fingers and with what felt like a blast she let the flames rip from her fingertips taking out every one of the targets that were set up.

Orange and yellow flames stretched high into the air and lapped at the nearby tents. “Blaython!” Roared Hayden, searching for the tiger. The tiger appeared before him obediently. Hayden put Cory on Blaython’s back. “Get her away from the smoke while I control it,” he ordered. Blaython dashed away. A powerful, overwhelming force enveloped Ryder at once. All Ryder felt was an invisible force ripping at his body. Amidst his shock, Ryder used all of his spiritual power to defend against this strange force. However, it was far too powerful, and Ryder felt as if he was about to be ripped apart. Just then, Wilbur let out a cry as he activated the most powerful attack of his Domain: Flame of the Infernal Dragon. Roaring flames filled the air around Rinchen, burying him completely. At the same time, Wilbur dove into the flames without hesitation as well.

If he had been sincere Braelyn would have believed him. "Ahhh!" The guard yelled out in pain and immediately began to flee into the pack, so he could find water to turn off the fire. Braelyn smiled and retracted the fire that was coming out of her. As if ordinary water could turn off her fire. It's only Braelyn that could turn off the fire. However, she'll watch him dry. Anyway, the fire was meant to burn him for three minutes. If he dared to look for Braelyn's trouble after that, Braelyn would directly make the fire burn him to death.

She blinked back a few tears and nodded. He pushed all else from his mind, focusing on saving more lives, and took off at a trot for the entrance to Great Olympian Hall. But just as he was set to ascend the main steps, a dazzling and terrifying display of light filled the sky. He stepped back to better grasp the spectacle and his mouth dropped. A moving, convulsing snake-like fire had shot straight into the sky as if it were a tornado in reverse. Only this was no natural phenomenon. James’s chest clenched with despair because he knew of only one person or entity capable of creating the devastating fire: Oliver Burton.

I squeal a little as I say, "Brisingen" I turn to face whoever grabbed me, only this time it seems to work. I start to get a little excited as I see the flame showing that it worked, but it is then I look up as Ryker pulls his arms from around me, quickly jumping back as a flame of fire starts at his feet. It doesn't take him long to put it out, but when he looks up at me, my excitement fades and is replaced by fear as I see his eyes change colour.
