I saw anger fill Beck's eyes even before he turned to the face Ajani. "Why are you here, Blade?". "Nehemiah let me in we have some business to discuss about ownership". He looked at me and smiled and I gave a small smile. "Hey Belle", he said and I whispered a hi. AWKWARD!!! "So you hit her that hard she cried?You haven't changed much Beck after these years". That's it I officially hated Ajani Blade but he was so hot. Focus OB this super hot guy is a super hot jerk. At this point even my logic had bailed on me. But a sound made me jolt back to life. And immediately Beck's hands were around me. Those were gun...gunshot sounds.

He tenderly brought her hand to his mouth and gently kissed it. Pain seared through my body as my eyes lost focus. The faces of my family blurred until I could no longer see them. I tried to move my arms to rub my eyes, but I was unable to move. Panic set in as I began to struggle. Finally, opening my eyes, James Cooper’s face came into focus.

She needs safety. She was still sitting there, holding her purse, breathing slower now but her eyes…. They weren’t scared anymore. There was fire in them. Fire strong enough to burn me alive. And maybe this time… I won’t fight it.

I shout. The sounds of the night come to a stop. The gentle breeze intensifies, blowing dry dirt and dust into the air. It swirls around me, getting into my eyes. It burns, but it’s much more than the normal pain you feel when something gets into your eyes. It’s like my eyes are on fire. I cry out, falling back and tripping over my own cloak. I squeeze my eyes shut and feel hands gripping my ankles, fingers digging into my flesh. I have to open my eyes. I have to see what’s attacking me. But when I do, all I can see is fire.

Blood sprayed across the underbrush. Ryker shifted late—too cocky, too slow. But he fought dirty. A swipe caught Link across the ribs. I screamed. And something inside me broke. The mark on my hand blazed. Fire erupted from my skin. Real fire. It curled around my arms like armor, danced down my spine, and poured from my mouth in a guttural scream that shattered the air. The wolves stopped. Even Ryker froze. I stepped between them, flames dancing in my eyes.

IRYN'S POV Pain bursts behind my eyes and my body seizes, convulsing so hard that my limbs jerk off the ground. Again I can't breathe and panicking, I scream but no sound comes out. The only thing I feel and see is fire, flames upon flames surrounding me, and a dark figure with glowing red eyes who is standing at the edge of a blood soaked battlefield. “Iryn,” he says and for some unknown reasons, I feel like he's threatening me.

The hollow lights flickered, glowing faint blue for an instant, as if the sacred ground recognized the vow and claimed it. Then— BOOM. The first blast of witchfire cracked through the hollow wall like lightning. Shards of old stone flew across the moss. Roots snapped and writhed. A gust of freezing magic tore through the ruin, extinguishing what remained of the fire. Selene stood between Rowan and Lucien as the dust settled, her hands rising, palms glowing with raw, unfiltered power. Rowan shifted closer, claws lengthening. His growl vibrated through the stone.

Fire. His hands were on fire. He threw the baby at Felicia and rushed to the fountain, dropping his dagger in the process. Dipping his hands inside, he let out a deep sigh. “I told you boss, you can't hurt her”. The other soldier, I assumed to be the assistant, said. Kojune stood straight and shot him a glare. “I'll be back for her”. He said in fury and strode out of the cave with the soldiers behind him. Shit! What have I done.

From my angle I couldn’t see Rayne’s face but then I saw Rayne’s body start to be consumed by flames and worry struck me not knowing if she was doing this or if something was wrong. “Rayne.” I said calling to her in our link and she looked my way, and her eyes were burning flames just like mine are. She then turned towards the targets with the flames around her starting to move towards her fingers and with what felt like a blast she let the flames rip from her fingertips taking out every one of the targets that were set up.
