Book Two: Fight or Flight Sweat dripped into Ash's eyes, momentarily obscuring his opponent. He shook his head to clear the cobwebs from the last punch he took. He ducked another jab and hit his opponent with a series of strikes to the side and back that brought grunts of pain from his opponent. Van Koslov, otherwise known as The Brick, went down onto one knee, panting.

Dylan warned everyone as he threw the truck into gear and sounded the horn. "Ten-seventy-two in progress at 7877 Candy Cane Lane. Suspected people still inside," the dispatch agent's voice resonated over the radio as the fire truck barreled down the road. "House fire," Taren announced. Dylan slowed down and blared the horn as they approached a traffic light in the town square. Once they were sure the oncoming traffic had stopped, they proceeded through and then picked up speed again on the other side. Then they turned down a few more streets and soon they turned down Candy Cane Lane and a glow illuminated the street up ahead. The neighbors began to congregate along the street.

We began to fire at each other but my team dogged every bullet. “We’ve got a problem, Alpha,” a warrior named Finn reported, his voice tight. “They’ve got heavy armor.” “Focus on the tires,” I ordered. “Shoot at the tires and disable the truck.” After it took a few bullets, the truck swerved, as its tires shredded. I watched it crash into the quarry wall and heaved a sigh. We secured the cargo, and found the crates filled with rifles, grenades, and other deadly weapons. “Third truck approaching,” Caleb’s voice reported through the mind link.

"She only burned a tiny spot on her hand that's not even as big as my fingernail! But look at Mom's leg! Her whole leg is red! You can't see that? What are your eyes for, decoration?" I shouted. I was so furious that my chest rose and fell, and I pointed straight at the blinking surveillance camera on the ceiling. "You're twisting the truth and can't tell right from wrong! Even if your brain isn't working, the camera up there is recording! Check the footage! Do you dare to check who pushed whom and who spilled soup on whom?" I retorted defiantly.

We got the body parts loaded in the bags and we’d washed the floor, just in case. Frank and Carl had gone outside to make a fire to burn the carpet. We watched it burn in silence while Carl and Frank drank another three beers each. My phone beeped and I checked my messages. It was Robert. Robert: Thanks, I’m fine now. I put my phone away as Frank threw water on the fire. We all got into my car and drove towards the Bay when Carl grabbed me by the shoulders from behind. “How many bodies have you added to the Bay since Malachi’s wild days?” He asked me and I looked at him in the rear-view mirror.

It's not even bright outside. He walks into the club, more like bounce. He gets into the club and a few minutes later people start to run out of the building including the man, He walks out of the building. Now I understand, he didn't run out cause he already knows what is about to happen. He looks up at the cctv for a second before leaving the scene, a few seconds later, the building goes up in Flames. Rage builds in my blood at the sight. This is one stupid stunt and when I get my hands on the people responsible for this, they would wish they never had cross me. "The same thing happened in the second video" Tiana mentions as she turns the screen over to her front and types fasts on the key

“Sir, please help! There’s a fire behind us! If we don’t start the water truck now, everyone’s in serious danger!” The urgency in her voice jolted the driver awake instantly. He leaned forward, his eyes darting past Karina to the chaos outside. Through the window, he spotted the girl thrashing wildly in Wilfred’s grip. Nearby, a small flame had ignited in a gasoline puddle, its edges already crawling and spreading rapidly toward them. Thick smoke began to rise, choking the air. The driver’s face went pale, but years of professional experience kicked in. Without a word, he shoved Karina aside gently, sliding into the driver’s seat. His hands moved swiftly over the controls, his feet slamming

"Maybe it'll be a good lesson on control." Peter and Lucifer got some torches from the cart and setup a rectangular pattern. Sabu and Heinrich were on the sidelines ready to catch any stray fireballs. "The rules for the fire variant are simple Elijah. You throw a ball of fire at your opponent who sends it back. With every third volley you add another ball to the mix. First to miss loses." Lucifer explained. "You can catch someone else's fire?" Elijah asked. "Yes. This game can be played with any of the elemental magics so long as the participants share the same affinity, though personally I think wind is boring, no offense Sabu."

A box of Antonio’s protein bars was tossed in the cab of the engine. Not even twenty minutes after that was loaded, station three was loading up and rolling out of the bay. The good news was that it was a Thursday night and not many people would be in the building. The bad news was that the fire was on floor nine. The truck pulled up to the curb and stopped just down from the hydrant. Like a well oiled machine, the crew jumped out and got to work. The stabilizers were lowered and Jimenez began controlling the ladder. She was good at it and all the men were glad she was at the controls. Her skills with the controls were also the reason no one would go against her on video games.

Focusing my eyes in that direction, I thought maybe I had just imagined it. Until I realized I saw a rogue running towards the truck, followed by a small horde. We were in a truck, so there should be no way they could be running this fast. Turning my body, I aimed my guns at the infected rogues. “Incoming!” I screamed, just as I started firing off my guns, one after another. I didn’t let up as I tried to hit them, but each bump in the road made a shot nearly impossible. I managed to hit one, but they were moving too fast. Ryker was also firing off a gun in their direction but having just as much trouble as I was.
